The film opens with Carter appearing visibly shaken aboard an airplane, prompting concern from his seatmate, Faith. He confides in her about a chilling video he watched a week earlier and reveals a foreboding phone call that warned him he would die in seven days.

As turbulence hits the airplane, Carter leaves to visit the bathroom, while Faith's friend Kelly expresses alarm after hearing about the unsettling video. The situation escalates when black sludge begins infiltrating the aircraft, showcasing the overwhelming dread among the passengers.

Carter encounters a swarm of flies emerging from the cockpit, heightening the terror. He then witnesses Samara Morgan creeping from a well on the monitor, representing the haunting result of his encounter with the cursed video.

Two years later, Skye, a college student, discovers a VCR and tapes at a yard sale. Gabriel, her professor, reveals these belonged to Carter's father, who suffered a tragic accident in the past, hinting at the dark history connected to the cursed video.
