At his wedding, Claude Sams argues with his son Paul about his lifestyle; angry, Paul leaves with a friend and heads to Las Vegas looking for work. While changing a tire on the highway, Paul is struck and killed by a passing yellow truck. The police deem it an accident, but Claude refuses to accept that verdict and obsessively hunts the truck and its reckless driver at every truck stop he can find.
