Womb (2025) – Ending Explained & Final Scene Breakdown

Still thinking about how Womb (2025) ended? Here’s a full breakdown of the ending, key final moments, major twists, and the deeper meaning behind the film’s conclusion.

Wulan’s nightmare finally becomes reality when the couple’s son, Bergas, returns home from Singapore just as she decides she can no longer stay. The elderly couple, Eva and Agus, have been preserving a Javanese superstition called Wekesan Rebo: every ten years, when Bergas—who was born on an unlucky Wednesday—approaches his tenth birthday, they must sacrifice a pregnant woman and her newborn (also due on a Wednesday) to keep him alive. Their earlier “cures” have already claimed the lives of their maid and her child, and now Wulan, due to give birth on a Wednesday, is the next offering.

Bergas, horrified by what he learns from a hidden album and an old ritual book, decides to help Wulan. He discovers the missing women were previous victims and confronts his parents as they try to force Wulan to stay until delivery. When the ritual is about to be carried out in a cramped storeroom, Bergas breaks free, shattering his restraints with a broken bottle. He barges in just as Agus is about to kill Wulan, using himself as a shield and threatening to end his own life if the sacrifice proceeds.

The three flee in the couple’s car. Agus tries to hypnotize Bergas again, but Bergas drives away, crushing his father’s hopes for another ritual. They stop at a roadside tea shop, and while Bergas steps out to pay, a truck barrels down the highway—exactly the fate the film has foreshadowed for anyone who tries to cheat the cursed Wednesday. The vehicle hits him, and Bergas dies instantly, his sacrifice finally ending the cycle.

In the last moments, Wulan and her newborn are left alive, free from the couple’s twisted tradition. The film closes on their fragile escape, underscoring how the desperate measures of a superstitious family led to tragedy, and how the only true liberation came at the ultimate cost of Bergas’s life.
