Trapped Alive

Robin Adams departs with her friend Monica Perry to attend another party. They drive through a snowy night as the social gathering fades behind them. The decision to move from one gathering to another sets the stage for the kidnapping.

Criminals Mongo and Louis 'Face' Napoleon escape a nearby penitentiary and abduct Robin and Monica along with their driver Randy Carter. The trio forces the women into their car as hostages, while Randy is compelled to drive. The abduction shifts from a party night to a perilous journey through the snow.

Randy drives the car into a wooded area and loses control, crashing into an abandoned mineshaft. The impact fatally injures Mongo, while Monica and Robin survive as the car explodes and the shaft entrance collapses. The survivors are left stranded in a dangerous underground maze.

Sheriff Billy Williams arrives nearby while searching for Face and Mongo. He is drawn into a tense, flirtatious encounter with Rachel at her house, which complicates the tense search. His investigations push the situation closer to a deadly underground confrontation.

Inside a tunnel that connects to Rachel's house, Robin finds an emergency phone and uses it to call for help. She is separated from Monica and the others and clings to the slender chance of rescue. The call sets in motion the underground rescue effort.

Billy answers the emergency call and learns of Robin's peril and the location of the others. He determines that a rescue must be attempted and makes his way to the mine's sinkhole entrance. The moment marks a shift from investigation to active pursuit.

Billy locates the sinkhole entrance and rappels down using a rope. The rope is cut, leaving him trapped below. He discovers Randy standing over Mongo's body, and the two prepare to reunite with the others.

Randy reunites with Robin and they join the others in the mine to regroup and plan a way out. The group faces the escalating cannibal threat as they move through the tunnels. Tension rises as they realize safety is far from certain.

In an upper chamber, Face is impaled by a hooked spike wielded by Rachel's mutated father, who drags him into the next chamber to begin cannibalizing him. The horrifying scene reveals a family secret that fuels the terror below. The other survivors watch in horror as the cannibal threat becomes personal.

The group tries to pass a tunnel gate; it collapses and crushes Billy's leg. Moments later, Rachel's father grabs Monica from behind, and Randy's shot goes wide, killing Monica instead of the attacker. The loss devastates the group and heightens the sense of danger.

Meanwhile, Robin's father John is winding down his own Christmas party and tries to call Robin, realizing she never arrived. He attempts to report her missing, but the police dismiss the concern. The tension at the surface contrasts with the terror underground.

The survivors discover a pool of water and Rachel's father emerges, pulling Randy into the depths. Robin defends herself and impales him through the throat with a metal pole, saving Randy's life. The confrontation narrows to a desperate underground escape.

Rachel reveals her father survived by cannibalizing miners and attempts to detonate the mine with dynamite. Randy and Robin flee through a passage as the mine erupts in a deadly explosion. Billy and Rachel are killed in the blast.

Arriving at the surface, Randy and Robin are met by police and John. Robin explains that Randy saved her life, and she begs her father to help him. John agrees to assist Randy in the aftermath.
