In the misty hills of Ooty, reclusive novelist Gautham Suvarna lives with his pregnant wife Indu. Indu begins to suffer vivid nightmares of an accident, hinting at shadows from Gautham's past and unsettling their quiet life. The sense of unease marks the opening tone of the story.

Prompted by Indu, the couple travels to Gautham's ancestral home in the village of Kamarottu, hoping ritual acts might calm their unborn child. The trip shifts them from a peaceful life into a world of local legends and looming danger. The decision sets the stage for deeper mysteries to unfold.

Gautham befriends Kalinga, the patient post master, and Shankar, the aging head master of the local school. These bonds pull him deeper into the town’s folklore and present-day peril, tying his fate to hidden stories within the community.

Within the quiet rooms of the Kamarottu house, Indu experiences unsettling phenomena. A near-drowning incident near a well becomes a catalyst for investigation, while locals warn of a Brahmarakshasa and a haunting presence called Guddada Bhoota.

A henchman aligned with a local politician launches an attack on Gautham, leaving him battered and wary. The assault reveals that forces in the village are willing to silence threats and protect corrupt interests.

One night Indu disappears without a trace. The police later declare that she died six years earlier in a terrible accident, a verdict that unsettles Gautham and pushes Sandhya's investigative threads toward Kamarottu.

Gautham uncovers a hidden illegal sand mafia controlled by Mahabala Hegde, with complicity from elements within the local police. The revelation reframes the attack as part of a wider criminal network rather than a personal vendetta.

Sandhya's arrival and their joint investigation lead to a diary named Harini. Through its pages, Gautham learns that the woman he believed to be Indu is actually Harini, a Bangalore yoga instructor, and that he himself is Siddharth, an aspiring writer who loved Sandhya. Harini confides a painful past: she killed a man who abused her and who threatened her after she resisted.

On a fog-laden road near the Kamarottu junction, Siddharth and his companion collide with the car carrying Indu, Gautham, and Harini. Harini survives and goes to authorities, declaring that Siddharth is her husband Gautham, while the others confront the brutal flip in their identities.

As they examine missing-person records, a chilling pattern surfaces: every July 7 a pregnant woman from the village disappears. Hospital posts reveal pregnancies and post-delivery documents, and only Kalinga has access to all these posts, linking him to the mystery.

Shankar provides a crucial clue about Kalinga's true identity as Guddada Bhoota, revealing a backstory: his wife Anasuya's affair with a local doctor triggered a brutal, ritualized vengeance that led to a string of abductions. The explanation clarifies the motive behind the disappearances and the village's fear.

Siddharth pursues Kalinga to a hidden hillside hideout, where a brutal confrontation unfolds. In a decisive struggle, Siddharth defeats Kalinga and ends his reign of terror, saving Harini from a grim future. Harini then gives birth to a child, symbolizing a fragile new chapter.

In the aftermath, Sandhya steps away with quiet grace, choosing not to reveal her ties to Siddharth or to the larger story. The village returns to its misty evenings, leaving behind a lingering sense of unspoken connections and unresolved memories.
