Ram and Avtar are two inseparable childhood friends whose bond is tested when both fall for Sangeeta. Avtar, charming but sometimes troublesome, finds work in the organization run by Sangeeta in her village, and gradually falls in love with her. To shield herself and her business from harassment by the local landlord, a ruthless figure named Gundappa Swami, she hires Avtar to provide muscle. Meanwhile, Ram returns from abroad after furthering his studies, bringing a steady, selfless outlook.
Ram and Sangeeta meet and, after a few clashes, fall in love. When Ram discovers Avtar’s feelings for Sangeeta, he makes a quiet, lifelong choice: he will sacrifice his own happiness for the sake of his best friend. He steps aside and works to facilitate Sangeeta’s marriage to Avtar, concealing his own love in the process. Sangeeta loves Ram, but she agrees to marry Avtar, honoring the bond between the two friends even as her heart is drawn to Ram.
The marriage, however, soon proves troubled. Avtar’s insecurities and jealousy surface, compounded by the manipulations of Gundappa Swami, who sows distrust and feeds on the fear of betrayal. On his deathbed, the villain’s schemes leave Avtar with a growing suspicion that Sangeeta is not faithful, a doubt that gnaws at the couple’s fragile trust.
As fear and estrangement creep into their life, Sangeeta pleads with Ram for help, drawing him into a painful triangle that only thins the line between friendship and love. Ram’s presence, instead of healing the rift, intensifies Avtar’s paranoia and threatens to topple the life Ram sacrificed to forge.
In the climactic unraveling, the truth about Ram and Sangeeta’s past love comes to light for Avtar. Overwhelmed by guilt and despair, Avtar attempts to end his life with poison. Ram intervenes in a final, heartrending act of friendship and sacrifice: he donates all of his blood to save Avtar, losing his own life in the process. The act ultimately restores some measure of peace and allows Avtar and Sangeeta to move forward with a clear conscience, but at a terrible cost. Ram’s death leaves an enduring mark on everyone, underscoring the complexities of love, loyalty, and selfless devotion.
