To shield herself and her business from harassment by the local landlord, a ruthless figure named Gundappa Swami, she hires Avtar to provide muscle. Meanwhile, Ram returns from abroad after furthering his studies, bringing a steady, selfless outlook.

Ram and Sangeeta meet and, after a few clashes, fall in love. When Ram discovers Avtar’s feelings for Sangeeta, he makes a quiet, lifelong choice: he will sacrifice his own happiness for the sake of his best friend. He steps aside and works to facilitate Sangeeta’s marriage to Avtar, concealing his own love in the process.
