Sakhi, R. Madhavan, an automobile company employee who lives in a large joint family, notices Priya, Sadha, a model, and is instantly drawn to her. He schemes to win her heart by using Priya’s own friend to capture her attention, and when he stumbles upon Priya’s private diary, he crafts himself as her ideal partner, posing as the person she has always pictured. He isn’t transparent about his true self at first, but his dangerous charm and calculated moves begin to blur the line between truth and manipulation.

The couple’s marriage is born from a web of lies that Sakhi spins with the help of his family’s pressure and Priya’s curiosity. Sakhi’s fast-moving deception is backed by a family that remains conservative and traditional, while Priya comes from a wealthy, cosmopolitan background where independence and modern values are the norm. Priya’s mother, Aishwarya Bhaskar, is a party-going socialite, and Priya’s father, Prathap Pothan, tends to stay within the home and is often sidelined by his wife. This clash of worlds—Priya’s modern, self-reliant stance and Sakhi’s family-centered, conventional approach—creates a foundational tension that follows them well beyond the wedding.

Sakhi carries on with life as he did before the marriage, placing his family ahead of Priya. He tells Priya they will go to the movies for their first outing as a newly married couple, but she soon discovers the unearthed truth: the “date” includes his entire extended family. This revelation foreshadows the months to come, where Priya must navigate a maze of expectations, with Sakhi insisting on the importance of his kin, while Priya clings to her own sense of individuality and modernity.

A pivotal moment comes when Sakhi hands Priya’s necklace to his sister in front of the whole family, effectively disenfranchising Priya’s ownership of her own gift. He projects a sense of entitlement by claiming the item will stay within the family, and Priya, while upset, keeps her temper in check in public. In private, she questions his right to reallocate something she purchased, and their ongoing quarrels reveal a growing rift between two people who barely know each other despite the marriage. The tension underscores the fundamental mismatch in values that continues to pull them apart.

Soon after, Priya becomes pregnant. Sakhi is overjoyed at the news, but Priya’s joy is tempered by fear and anxiety. She isn’t mentally prepared for motherhood, and she worries that their ongoing disagreements could negatively affect the child. She is also unsure about becoming a mother so early in their marriage, believing they could have children later when they are more ready. Yet Sakhi wants the child, and Priya feels increasingly trapped by the demands of his world as she tries to find a way forward that honors both of their needs.

Despite Priya’s distress, she agrees to carry the pregnancy to term, even confiding in her mother about her situation. When Priya’s mother arranges an abortion, Sakhi races to the hospital to stop it. A dramatic turn occurs when Priya is injured in an accident on her way to the procedure, and Sakhi brings her back to his home to recover. The couple’s already fragile relationship deteriorates further as they fight once again; Sakhi even forgets Priya’s birthday and belatedly offers a vague apology, a moment that exacerbates the sense of distance between them.

On Priya’s birthday, she discovers an old diary in Sakhi’s suitcase, triggering a fierce argument in which she accuses him of having tricked her into loving and marrying him. The confrontation takes a disturbing turn when Sakhi strikes Priya in front of their guests, and she leaves for her parents’ house. She declares she wants a divorce and even questions the possibility of terminating the pregnancy. Sakhi challenges her stance and pursues the matter in court, where the legal system weighs their options.

The judge rules that Priya must continue with the pregnancy and grants Sakhi custody of the child after birth. The tumult ends with Sakhi moving into Priya’s parents’ house to care for the unborn child, driven by his fear that his own relatives might interfere with the pregnancy. After the baby is born, Priya returns to Sakhi’s family for a period of two months to feed and care for the child, and as time passes, she forms a strong emotional attachment to the baby. This change of heart leads her to consent to giving full custody to Sakhi, recognizing the depth of his love for the child.

Heartbroken, Priya leaves with her parents. In the car, her mother speaks optimistically of finding another possible husband for Priya, while Priya herself is devastated by the separation from the child she has grown to care for. Yet Priya’s father speaks up to his wife, urging reconciliation and a chance for Priya to rebuild her life with her husband. When Priya steps out of the car, not sure of what to do, Sakhi calls to her on the street. The two share a moment of vulnerability, asking each other for forgiveness, and they choose to reconcile, signaling a fragile but hopeful end where two worlds can find common ground through renewed trust and a shared commitment to their child.
