Sundarapandian, M. Sasikumar, is the only son of Raghupathi, a wealthy landlord and village head who rules over Kandamanoor, a village near Theni. He grows up surrounded by two close friends, Murugesan and Arivazhagan, who share the same town and a long history with his carefree, out‑of‑the‑world lifestyle. Arivazhagan, Inigo Prabhakaran, is finishing his final year of college after twice failing his board exams, while Sundarapandian completed college a couple of years earlier and now lives with a relaxed sense of freedom. On a routine bus ride from Madurai to Theni, Arivazhagan falls for Archana, a girl who lives in a nearby village, and he watches her daily from the bus window, building a quiet resolve to express his love. The trouble begins when Archana’s interest appears to tilt toward Sundarapandian, setting off a delicate confrontation of pride, affection, and friendship.

Archana, Lakshmi Menon, travels the same bus route every day, and along with her, a third suitor named Bhuvaneshwaran, Appukutty, also vies for her affection. A clash erupts between Arivazhagan and Bhuvaneshwaran as both men jockey for Archana’s attention, and they eventually agree on a truce: Bhuvaneshwaran gets 31 days to woo her, with no interference from Sundarapandian and his friends. If he fails, he must withdraw peacefully. Bhuvaneshwaran falters, seemingly stepping aside, and the path appears to clear for Arivazhagan. Yet a larger twist lurks beneath the surface: three years earlier, Sundarapandian himself had proposed to Archana, who had rejected him. This revelation quietly reshapes everyone’s perception of love, pride, and rightful endings.

Archana’s parents, meanwhile, pressure her to marry Jegan, a choice that complicates the relationship further. Raghupathi Thevar, Sundarapandian’s father, enters the scene with a straightforward proposal: Archana should marry Sundarapandian, not Jegan. He goes to Archana’s home and urges her father Pandi to put aside ego and honor his daughter’s wishes, which ultimately convinces Pandi to accept the match with Sundarapandian. Jegan, furious at this turn of events, learns that Sundarapandian is a former college friend, and a dangerous anger takes hold. Paranjothi, a close acquaintance with a simmering resentment, stands by Jegan, though he masks his true feelings behind other concerns.

Paranjothi meets Sundarapandian to warn him that Jegan’s love for Archana has intensified, and he fabricates a story that Jegan is slipping toward drunkenness to scare Sundarapandian away. Sundarapandian resolves to meet Jegan and calm the situation, while Arivazhagan accompanies him for protection. In a tense encounter on the outskirts of town, Sundarapandian pleads with Jegan to control his anger, but the confrontation spirals. Paranjothi and Jegan have plotted to kill Sundarapandian, and Arivazhagan is pulled into the danger as the trio’s plan unfolds. As they travel, a fatal moment arrives: Arivu strikes Sundarapandian in the back, driven by vengeance linked to Archana.

The sting of betrayal lands hard on Sundarapandian. He fights back, but the truth about the night of the bus incident surfaces—he reveals to Paranjothi that Arivazhagan, not himself, killed Bhuvaneshwaran. Sundarapandian also confesses that he took the blame for the earlier death to spare Arivazhagan, a realization that deepens his sense of loneliness and disillusionment. With his faith in friends broken, he exits that turbulent chapter of his life, carrying the weight of betrayal and doubt.

In the end, Sundarapandian and Archana marry, stepping into a new life that acknowledges the pain of past betrayals. He chooses not to expose the truth about the murderous scheme to anyone, and, choosing a hard-won peace over vengeance, he ends his friendships with those who betrayed him. The closing arc emphasizes a quiet resilience: a man who has endured manipulation and loss finds a path forward with the one he truly loves, even as he keeps the past at bay.

Archana’s mother, Tulasi, plays a supporting role in the emotional arc surrounding Archana and her family’s decisions, while Sundarapandian’s cousin, Janaki Devi, is shown in relation to the family dynamics, underscoring the broader social web that frames the story. The film’s emotional core rests on the tension between desire and loyalty, the costs of pride, and the difficult choices that define adult relationships in a close-knit community.
