The whole story of Pradhan (2023) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

Newly married police officer Deepak Pradhan, [Dev], is transferred to Dharmapur, a remote village in North Bengal, on election duty. Upon arriving, he discovers the village panchayat has been controlled for fifteen years by local strongman Jatileshwar Mukherjee, [Anirban Chakrabarti], who ruthlessly blocks any opposition and ensures he is elected unopposed every time. Deepak is entrusted with the task of conducting free and fair elections this time.

As he begins to inspect, Deepak finds corruption seeped into every corner of village life—from the local school to the police station—all roads leading back to Jatileshwar. The commoners are kept poor under his dictatorship, and even junior officers work for his payroll. He learns that his landlord Jiban Krishna Sarkar, [Paran Banerjee], who once headed the village school, was framed for theft when he spoke out against the abuse. Deepak and the villagers encourage Jiban to stand against Jatileshwar in the upcoming panchayat elections.

Jatileshwar and his henchmen attempt to rig the polls by any means, while Deepak and his allies—now inspired by his leadership—strive to run a peaceful election. In the struggle, Deepak's loyal assistant Bibek Ray, [Soham Chakraborty], loses his life amid riotous clashes. On counting day, Jiban wins the election by a single vote, a narrow victory that brings a glimmer of hope to the community. In the end, the long-time dictator Jatileshwar is arrested for his crimes.
