On a rainy night, Ilangkumaran “Kumaran” and Nallavan escape from a mental asylum and find themselves starting anew in Chennai, taking shelter at Pulikutti’s house under unexpectedly comic circumstances. The pair soon lands jobs at an Indian Oil petrol bunk, and their kind hearts win them friends as they hatch a plan to run a small service for people in need. Bharathi, Kumaran’s neighbor, initially dislikes him, but her view shifts as she witnesses his genuine care for others. At the same place, Tamizhselvi captures Nallavan’s attention, and a budding romance begins to bloom.
Pulikutti helps spread the word by advertising Kumaran and Nallavan’s service in a magazine, complete with their photos, which draws attention far beyond their usual circle. The film then reveals a troubled past: Kumaran is being hunted by relatives who want his land. In his childhood, his mother was confined to a room after being branded mentally ill, his father remarried, and his grandfather was poisoned by those same relatives who hoped to sell a piece of land. The relatives learn that Kumaran’s signature is required for the deal, and they manage to have him declared mentally ill and admitted to the asylum by bribing the doctors. With the support of a kind doctor, Kumaran escapes along with Nallavan.
Back in the city, Kumaran and Nallavan share their history with Bharathi and Tamizhselvi, opening up about the years they endured. Pichai arrives in Chennai with a plan: they could donate the land to the government. Kumaran agrees, and the land is donated, a move that enrages the relatives. The pursuit resumes as the relatives chase them, but with Bharathi’s encouragement, Kumaran and Nallavan decide to stand up to them. In a tense confrontation, they and their allies deliver a decisive thrashing to the opposition and reclaim their peace. They return home with Bharathi and Tamizhselvi, ready to begin a new, quieter chapter together.
