On their wedding day in Poland, poet Tadeusz brings Sarah, the Jewish woman he rescued from a Gestapo officer, to the ceremony. The celebration is shattered when Cieślik forces Sarah to choose: become his lover or betray her to the Nazis. Filip Zylber’s debut, scored by Tomasz Stańko, enriches Borowski’s stark wartime tale with richer characterisation.
