What Happens in Pizza 3: The Mummy: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Pizza 3: The Mummy (2023) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

Dhaamu Kaali Venkat comes home with a Barbie for his daughter, while his son discovers a camera. He also unveils a mini mummy sarcophagus—an eerie little statue that resembles a king from ancient times. His wife, Anupama Kumar, jokes that he’s collecting too many curios, but soon the house loses power and they light candles. The son films as the daughter asks for a bedtime story. The father begins with a traditional Indian tale about an elephant leg caught in a crocodile’s mouth, but the second son begs for a horror story. He recalls a basketball game from his school days when one player collapsed and died, and rumors spread that the player’s spirit returns to the court to bounce a ball. The second son suggests the father pushed the player, which unsettles him. He orders the first son to stop recording, puts away the camera, and sends the kids to bed. Hours later, a singing toy activates on its own. The father wakes to switch it off, then goes downstairs and hears a basketball bounce. In the mirror, he catches the image of the deceased player, though no one is there. The moment the figure appears, violence follows and the father dies.

A news debate about ghosts unfolds on screen, featuring Kayal Pavithrah Marimuthu as a young app developer who claims she has built a way to converse with spirits. A live demonstration goes wrong. One panelist mentions a tiny mummy crafted by an Egyptian queen who trapped negative energies, and the rumor places this mummy somewhere in Chennai, ready to stir trouble on certain days.

Nalan Ashwin Kakumanu runs a restaurant and is preparing to ask Kayal’s brother for her hand in marriage. Kayal’s brother, a police officer named Prem Kumar Gaurav Narayanan, pushes for a different match with a wealthier designer, Aravind. Nalan returns to the restaurant to find a small sarcophagus left behind by a customer. From that moment the kitchen begins to behave strangely: lights turn on by themselves, utensils appear dirty, and a mysterious sweet dish materializes in the fridge. The staff sample it and find it exquisitely divine, and everyone assumes Nalan secretly crafted it, though he cannot explain the confection.

Nalan encounters Veera, who hands him the papers of ownership for the restaurant and praises his hard work. That night, a woman’s crying is heard downstairs. He investigates and senses a presence, then takes a call from Veera who claims he is starving and wants a meal delivered. Nalan delivers the dish himself, and Veera’s house becomes the site of a deadly confrontation with a ghost.

As Prem intensifies the investigation, Kayal grows anxious about their relationship. She wants Nalan to speak with Aravind about the arrangement, and the tension between love, family, and tradition deepens. When Aravind’s name is mentioned, Nalan’s friends decide to spend the evening at his apartment, only to be attacked by the spirit. Nalan intervenes and saves them, admitting them to a hospital. Aravind is later confirmed dead, and Prem’s suspicions return to Nalan.

Realizing the haunting is tied to the restaurant’s past, Kayal and Nalan decide to investigate with the help of Kayal’s app. A librarian offers a crucial clue: the previous owner of the restaurant was Mitra Abi Nakshathra and her mother, who ran a nearby sweet shop. They attempt to visit Mitra’s apartment, but security blocks them. The apartment secretary explains that Mitra and her mother no longer live there, and hints at a tragic past.

Nalan secretly returns to Mitra’s old apartment at night and discovers a drawing Mitra made of Aravind, leaving him shaken. Security pursues him, and a freak elevator accident kills the guard. A flashback reveals Mitra’s life: a gifted cook who and her mother ran the sweet shop, with their signature treat appearing mysteriously in Nalan’s fridge. Mitra’s memory loss after a childhood cricket accident makes her vulnerable; a predatory watchman abuses her in the lift, and a conspiracy involving the secretary, Veera (Mitra’s maternal uncle), Aravind, and the security culminates in Mitra’s and her mother’s deaths. They stage the death of Mitra by a gas-leak at the sweet shop and mutilate the mother’s body, burying them in a quarry.

The lingering mummy presence awakens Mitra and her mother’s spirits, who begin to exact revenge on those responsible. The apartment secretary’s escape plan with a ghost hunter fails, and the final acts of retribution fall on the conspirators: Veera, Aravind, and the security. In the end, the spirits of Mitra and her mother unite and depart, leaving Nalan to face the consequences of the lingering horror no longer tethered to him. The house, the restaurant, and the memories all carry the weight of what was done, and the living are left with a reminder that some histories refuse to stay buried.

Why was the father killed in the opening scene?

What is the connection between the mummy statue and the restaurant haunting?

The tiny mummy sarcophagus was crafted by an Egyptian queen to trap negative energies. Q3

Who was Mitra and what happened to her and her mother?

Mitra was a gifted cook who ran a sweet shop with her mother. After a childhood cricket accident caused memory loss, she became vulnerable to abuse by the building's watchman. A conspiracy involving Veera (her maternal uncle), Aravind, the apartment secretary, and the security guard led to their murders, Mitra was staged as a gas-leak death at the sweet shop, and her mother was mutilated and buried in a quarry.

These three men were directly responsible for the murder of Mitra and her mother. Veera was Mitra's maternal uncle who orchestrated the conspiracy. Aravind was the wealthy designer involved in the plot. The security guard helped carry out the murders. Their guilt triggered the vengeful spirits to kill them in retaliation for their crimes.

Why were the spirits friendly toward Nalan despite the restaurant being haunted?

Nalan was not involved in the conspiracy to kill Mitra and her mother. Because he was innocent and sought the truth, the spirits protected him and even saved his friends from attack, eventually helping him escape the haunting.

When Nalan delivered food to Veera's house on the night of Veera's murder, and later when Aravind was killed, Prem's suspicion fell on Nalan because of his presence at the crime scenes.
