Schultz's prize chickens and roosters constantly raid neighbor Max Davidson's garden, stealing seed and stoking a feud. When their children become engaged, the men agree to make peace, and Davidson invites Schultz to dinner. Davidson gives Ignatz two dollars for a chicken, but the boy pockets the money and kills Schultz's champion rooster. At dinner, everyone except Schultz sees they're eating the dead rooster and frantically hides it, fearing his wrath.
