This shocking turn of events intensifies Kuramori’s resolve and deepens the sense of betrayal, as the line between human and parasite politics becomes utterly entangled. Kuramori’s pursuit grows personal: he abducts Tamiya’s son and lures her to a park, intending to force her to witness the killing of the baby. Despite the efforts of Tamiya and Shinichi to avert catastrophe, Kuramori presses ahead with his grim plan and ultimately dies at Tamiya’s hands, a act driven by a mixture of fear, desperation, and a stubborn belief that he can stop the spread of danger.

Following this, the tension explodes into a confrontation with the state. Instead of defending herself, Tamiya is fatally shot by the police when she steps onto the path of danger to protect her child. Shinichi mourns Migi, while his girlfriend Satomi Murano Ai Hashimoto provides quiet, steadfast comfort as he grapples with loss and the uncertain future ahead. The next morning reveals a startling truth: a fragment of Migi remains inside Shinichi’s right hand, a remnant of the previous bond that continues to influence his abilities and his choices. Fueled by this residual connection, Shinichi lures Goto to a disposal facility and delivers a fatal blow. Although the killing weighs heavily on him, he embraces the sense that protecting his loved ones justifies taking this life. After the battle, Migi informs Shinichi that with the parasite threat receding, Migi will enter a dormant phase to evolve, a separation that promises not to see Shinichi again and which settles like a cold ache in the young man’s heart.

Several years pass, and Shinichi and Satomi visit the now-toddler son of Tamiya, Taiki Tamiya, a reminder of what has been lost and what might still be preserved. The fragile peace is unsettled once more when Uragami reappears, kidnapping Satomi and taking her to a rooftop. He declares that humans are the real monsters and challenges Shinichi to articulate his own position, given his unique existence as a parasite hybrid. With Satomi’s encouragement, Shinichi resists the fatalistic claim and, with a renewed spark of resolve, manages to save Satomi with help from Migi, who briefly awakens from his dormant state to lend assistance. This final, hard-won rescue underscores a central question that permeates the entire narrative: even when the parasite threat seems to have waned, the struggle to define humanity—and to protect the ones you love—remains a constant, haunting battle.
