Federation soldiers are equipped with exoskeletons that amplify their combat abilities as they face an onslaught from the Arachnids. On the asteroid Fort Casey, the fortress-like outpost is overrun with swarming bugs, prompting a rapid mobilization from the star-ship Alesia. The mission unfolds as Alesia deploys its Mobile Infantry troopers, known as A-1, by drop-ship to seize the hangar and extract survivors from a prior K-12 unit struggle at Casey. Lieutenant Daugherty leads Alpha Team through a brutal, bug-filled gauntlet, pushing through the hive to link up with whatever Fort Casey troopers remain alive.

As explosives are planted, the team races toward the star-ship John A. Warden for evacuation, only to witness the Warden lifting off without them. In a dramatic turn, Carl Jenkins — the Minister of Paranormal Warfare — has commandeered the Warden from Captain Carmen Ibanez, withholding his true mission but insisting that it could tilt the war in humanity’s favor. Before departure, Jenkins designates Major Henry “Hero” Varro David Wald to be escorted to Alesia as a prisoner, setting the stage for a collision of loyalties and objectives.

The Fort Casey defense buckles under heavy assault, and it is the sharpshooting of sniper Trig who buys time for the outgunned defenders, taking down bugs from a distance. When Alesia finally docks with Fort Casey for a makeshift evacuation, the asteroid is destroyed in the ensuing chaos, and Bugspray pulls Trig to safety as the ship separates from the space dock. The surviving troopers brace for the next phase of a war they fear may already be lost, while Varro’s leadership earns grudging respect from some and wary suspicion from others.

Inside the Alesia, the crew begins to circle the truth behind the Warden’s disappearance. Captain Jonah Shelley Calene-Black confirms that Earth’s defense line has lost contact with the Warden, forcing the crew to pursue any lead that might recover it. The A-1 squad remains a tight-knit group: Chow, a solitary martial artist and technical expert; Ice Blonde, who blends flirtation with battlefield practicality; and Shock Jock, the ship’s medic, among others like Ratzass Leraldo Anzaldua, Mech Jovan Jackson, Holyman Kalob Martinez, and the rest of the K-12 survivors.

As the mission presses on, the crew learns that Jenkins intended to capture a live Queen bug, a revelation that reframes the entire conflict. Trig’s personal vendetta — born from a past where bugs killed her family — adds a fierce, if morally complicated, dimension to the hunt. The relationship between Trig and Bugspray becomes a flashpoint for the squad’s morale as they press onward toward the Warden to reunite with Captain Ibanez’s crew.

Mid-journey, High Command at L-6 Base relay orders: General Johnny Rico David Anthony Matranga tasks Alesia with locating the missing Warden. If Varro can lead, they will proceed; the mission’s stakes grow heavier as Jenkin’s influence over the Warden becomes evident. Carmen Ibanez, aware that Jenkins has manipulated the ship’s systems, seeks to guide the crew back toward Earth while unraveling the riddle of Jenkins’s intentions and whether his research can truly alter the galaxy’s fate.

On the Warden, the Queen anchors control over the vessel’s weapons and doors, turning the ship into a weapon of war. The Alesia crew fights to reach the bridge and engine room, while Jenkins’s recovered authority aids their efforts in unpredictable ways. The Warden, under Queen control, drives a fatal wedge between the human defenders and their chances of escape. As the ship hurtles toward disaster, Carlos Rico leads a field response with Marauder suits in a bid to stem the bug exodus at the impending crash site.

Rico’s team struggles against overwhelming odds as the Queen weaponizes the Warden’s arsenal, even destroying the three orbiting defense ships in a showing of terrifying power. He risks everything, sprinting through the wreckage with a dangerous mix of courage and improvisation. The rescue attempt devolves into a race against time as the Warden’s descent toward a mountain range becomes humanity’s last stand. Trig, whose resolve to avenge her loved ones remains unshaken, sacrifices a critical moment to sever the Queen’s link to the ship by shooting a key connection, allowing Ibanez to redirect the Warden away from Paris and toward a remote, survivable crash zone.

In the final push, Rico leads a liberated squad of Marines to the crash site, while high command prepares a nuclear response. On the Warden, the five survivors—even as the Queen continues to manipulate the ship’s systems—press toward the Queen and the ship’s vulnerable core. Ice Blonde protects Ibanez near an airlock, while Mech and Ratzass head to the engine room to ignite a cataclysmic explosion that would end the Queen’s threat. Tragedy strikes as Trig is found dead, and Bugspray, armed with Trig’s family-made sniper rifle, buys Varro the crucial minutes needed to confront the Queen and buy Ibanez time to prepare takeoff.

Jenkins, having regained his composure, reveals the broader scientific breakthrough behind his pursuit: a Terran method that could potentially turn the tide of the war by exploiting the bugs’ biology. Rico, the lone survivor to reach the Warden’s bridge, becomes the fulcrum of a last–ditch plan to save what remains of humanity. The final gambit unfolds as the Queen, determined to annihilate Earth’s defenders, drives the Warden toward a lethal collision, but a last-ditch effort by Ibanez and Rico turns the tide long enough for a controlled fall in a distant, treacherous terrain. The Warden’s detonation ends the immediate threat, but not without cost: several brave soldiers are lost, and a single warrior bug lumbers away through the sewers, a haunting reminder that the war will continue.

In the aftermath, the survivors honor their fallen comrades, while Ibanez confronts Jenkins about the mission’s motives. Jenkins maintains that his research will someday save the galaxy, leaving a lingering question about the true cost of their victory. The final image cuts to a lone bug navigating the sewers, implying that the war against the Arachnids is far from over and that resilience — forged in the crucible of Fort Casey and the Warden’s wreckage — will carry humanity forward.
