Anna Maria, portrayed by Maria Hofstätter, is a middle-aged woman residing alone in a lovingly maintained house in Vienna. Besides her hospital job, she dedicates her time to meticulously cleaning her home. Despite her solitary life, Anna Maria finds solace in her profound devotion to Jesus, which she believes empowers her to resist worldly temptations through fervent prayer and various forms of self-discipline.

She is an active member of a small, ultra-religious group that aims to revive the Catholic faith in Austria. Instead of pursuing traditional vacations, she dedicates her time off work to canvassing impoverished neighborhoods, predominantly inhabited by immigrants, spreading God’s message.

As steadfast as her faith may be, it faces challenges not only from the diverse responses of those she seeks to help but also from her own home life. Her past unexpectedly resurfaces when her disabled Muslim husband returns, seeking a fraction of the love she wholeheartedly offers to Jesus.
