In a bid to warn others, [Dawn] arrives with crucial information about a fireworks festival planned for later in the day. Harrison and Dawn set out to warn people as fear gives way to urgent action. Back on shore, Rick and Diane are viciously attacked again; Rick loses two fingers in a brutal bite, and Diane lights a flare to guide the rescuers. The flare draws Molly, Curtis, and Jones toward the scene, where Rick and Diane manage to retreat to shore with injuries that will test their endurance. Jones manages to kill one shark, but he pays with his life when another monster swallows him in a moment of brutal misfortune.

Molly proves to be the most effective of the group, killing another shark and joining Rick, Diane, and Curtis on a mission to track down Harrison. They manage to reach Jones’s car, and their search becomes a frantic race against time as the six sharks continue to roam the lake. They decide to head toward the festival area to interrupt the chaos and warn as many people as possible, hoping to prevent further casualties.

As the sun begins to set, Harrison and Dawn reach a separate beach where a crowd gathers, and a sudden shark attack breaks the surface once again. The group on the shore scatters in fear, while Harrison and Dawn stay behind to help several stranded girls on a dock in the middle of the water. The two work to evacuate the survivors, and Dawn single-handedly kills another shark using a barrage of fireworks, a bold and desperate tactic that underscores the stakes. Molly, Curtis, Rick, and Diane return to lend aid, and a new plan coalesces: lure a shark into a machine that can tear it apart. They strand some of the attackers, fatefully drawing the remaining beasts away from the dock. The plan succeeds in taking down another shark, allowing the final group to reach the shore.
