Out West

Shemp discovers a troublesome medical condition caused by a swollen vein in his leg. Following medical advice, he embarks on a therapeutic journey to the rugged terrain of the Old West. This expedition marks the beginning of the Stooges' adventure in unfamiliar territory.

In a rough, lawless town the Stooges befriend the thuggish Doc Barker. Barker presents himself as a powerful local figure who will shape the trio's imminent troubles.

When Shemp mentions he has 'the biggest vein you ever saw,' Barker mistakes it for a gold-bearing vein worth millions. He hatches a scheme to seize the gold for himself. The plan marks the rise of Barker as the antagonist.

Nell informs the Stooges that Barker is holding the Arizona Kid hostage in the saloon basement. This revelation tightens the stakes and sets their plan in motion. The basement becomes a focal point for the rescue.

The Stooges devise a plan to obtain the keys to Barker's prison cell by retrieving them from Barker's coat. They work to outsmart Barker through a combination of trickery and timing. The keys would let Nell free the Arizona Kid.

Shemp joins Barker for a game of poker while Moe and Larry hatch a treacherous plan to incapacitate Barker and his gang. They prepare a deceptive beverage designed to weaken Barker's crew, while Shemp is given a harmless sarsaparilla.

Barker drinks the mock potion and cries for water. In response, Shemp grabs a nearby fire hose and sprays the room, soaking Barker and his men. The surprise attack disrupts the gang and sets up the rescue.

Moe and Larry grab Barker's coat to obtain the prison keys under the ruse of saving Barker from pneumonia, and pass them to Nell. Nell uses the keys to free the Arizona Kid from the basement.

When Barker realizes the escape attempt, he throws Larry into the cell and vows to kill him at sunrise. The Stooges must act quickly to prevent the grim fate.

With Larry's life at stake, the Arizona Kid sends for the United States Cavalry for help. The cavalry's looming arrival raises the stakes and provides potential salvation, though the trio keeps their plan moving.

Moe and Shemp use hammers to liberate Larry from confinement. The Stooges then continue to incapacitate Barker and his gang with a stick of dynamite.

The cavalry arrives but is miffed that they made a long trip for nothing. Nell and the Arizona Kid are finally reunited as the town settles back toward peace.
