Gopika Varma Madhoo is an NRI who returns to India to perform death rituals for her parents, who were killed during a theft attempt by Antony, a man of African origin. Antony follows her to India and tries to kidnap her. At the same time, a gang from India plans to abduct her at the airport to steal her possessions. When their car breaks down, the gang hijacks a taxi driven by Venu Mukesh, a newcomer on his first day as a driver who was raised by nuns. Through a cascade of misunderstandings, Gopika mistakes Venu for the gang leader and takes his taxi, escaping with him while he reluctantly helps her carry her parents’ ashes for the rituals.

Venu is soon framed for kidnapping as part of a police plan, and Gopika is renamed Indhu and placed under protection. Antony and the gang become unlikely allies in the tangled web around her. On the run from both law enforcement and the criminals, Venu eludes capture time and again, driven by a simple resolve to deliver the ashes to India and reveal the truth. His effort is supported by his friend Velayudhan Vettukili Prakash, though Velayudhan is arrested in the process. Escaping once more, Venu accidentally joins a drama company, and a moment of comic misfortune—applying an old man’s makeup by accident—helps him slip past pursuers. He adopts the alias of Colonel Nair, a former military officer, and makes his way to Gopika’s current residence.

As Colonel Nair, he grows close to Gopika and works to convince her of his innocence. He saves her from the gang and hands over the ashes through his friend Velayudhan. Gopika, now lovestruck, trusts that he is telling the truth. When Antony launches another attack at her home, Venu, in his Colonel Nair guise, captures him. Gopika is taken to the hospital, where a nun is also admitted, and a moment later she realizes Colonel Nair’s true identity, sharing a lighthearted exchange with him.

The two then seek the counsel of DIG Chandrashekara Menon Innocent to lay bare the truth. But as the plan unfolds, Venu is captured again, and tension between him and Gopika rises. He and Velayudhan manage to escape and even kidnap Gopika to secure her for a ransom from the gang. The police are alerted, and she is eventually saved by Venu, who remains in the Colonel Nair disguise. In a playful and daring twist, Gopika stages a fake suicide by leaping into a lake to coax a reaction from Venu; he dives in to rescue her, shedding his makeup in the process and exposing his true identity as Venu—a revelation Gopika has long suspected.

The finale leaves the Colonel Nair costume adrift in the water, with the police believing a heroic man has perished, while Venu and Gopika share a relieved, smiling moment together, their bond sealed by truth, trust, and an unforgettable journey.
