But her engagement collapses after a phone call to her father, King Vijayaraghavan, about a supposed financial crisis triggers a mass exodus of relatives who suddenly appear to offer help—and later, opportunistic demands. The truth is a false alarm, yet Vijayaraghavan dies of a heart attack amid the chaos, leaving Prabha devastated and wary of those around her. Determined to marry for love rather than for title or status, she decides to step away and decamp to a friend’s house, which sits right next to Venkat’s humble residence.
