In 1870 Montana, the Archer family finds shelter as a winter storm rages outside and sets up a makeshift camp. Abraham, Celeste, Tobias, and Abby settle in while their horse Fable rests nearby. The family weighs safety against the brutal frontier as night closes in.

Tobias and Abraham stumble upon a massacred wagon train, and Cassidy, the lone survivor, bears arrows driven through her palms. The Archers tend to her wounds and offer shelter, unsure of who she really is. The fragile safety of their camp is immediately threatened.

During the night four bandits strike the camp and kill Abraham, Celeste, and Tobias. Cassidy, Abby, and Fable are captured and hauled to a fortified ghost town that serves as the gang's headquarters. The Archers' journey into danger begins with the loss of their loved ones.

Inside the ghost town, Cassidy is forced to work for Logan and endures regular abuse. Abby learns Cassidy's role in the gang, including how her hand wounds are punishment for trying to escape. Logan treats the captives as leverage to ambush travelers.

Rhys works in the workshop, forging arrowheads with a unique mold. He explains he cannot feel pain, a claim that unsettles the others and foreshadows the violence ahead. The arrowheads become a symbol linking the gang to the crimes.

Abby tries to escape but Brody dies accidentally in the attempt. She leaps into a frozen river and is swept away by the current, beginning a perilous journey downstream. This escape fragments the group and sets new routes for survival.

A rancher named Erik finds the hypothermic Abby in the river and brings her to his house on Wicker Ranch. His pregnant wife Nora nurses Abby back to health, offering a beacon of safety beyond the gang’s reach. Abby starts to rebuild trust in strangers who offer aid.

Cassidy travels toward the Archer camp and marks her trail by pressing Rhys's arrowheads into tree bark. The marks serve as a breadcrumb of the gang’s crimes and a clue for those who might chase them. The chase takes on a literal trail through the wilderness.

Abby steals Erik's horse Orion and rides to her family's camp, where she finds Cassidy. Cassidy claims she doesn’t want to return to the gang, while Abby resolves to go back for Fable. The sisters face a choice between safety and duty.

Logan learns Cassidy stole the arrowheads and orders Rhys to bring her back alive. The demand intensifies the hunt, forcing characters to improvise and act under pressure. The group grows more tangled as loyalties collide.

Erik tracks Abby and Orion and ends up traveling with Rhys at gunpoint after being forced along. They locate Abby near the Archer camp, where Rhys shoots Erik, but the bullet is stopped by a buckle in his jacket. Abby and Cassidy remain in danger as the pursuit continues.

In the ghost town, Logan is tied to a pole but is killed by Rhys after a disagreement over Cassidy’s fate. The loss tightens Rhys's hold over Cassidy and intensifies the looming conflict. Cassidy realizes her fate now hinges on survival.

That night, Abby re-enters the ghost town and, with Felix's help, frees Cassidy. They reach the town gate, where Erik awaits on the other side. The quartet prepares to flee toward safety and a chance at reunion.

Rhys, severely burned, arrives at Wicker Ranch riding Orion and takes the women hostage. A brutal fight erupts, during which Cassidy is impaled by an arrow and dies, but she stabs Rhys in the chest, killing him as well. Abby and Fable survive, while Erik and Nora welcome a daughter named Cassie, hinting at a fragile future.
