One Battle After Another

As the confrontation spirals, the Native‑American bounty hunter Avanti intervenes, buying Willa just enough time for Bob—her long‑time protector who has revealed that he isn’t her biological father—to arrive. When he finally reaches her, Willa’s desperate cry, “Identify yourself!” underscores everything she has learned: the lies of the older generation, the betrayals, and the weight of the war. Bob lowers his weapon, embraces her, and silently affirms that family is chosen, not dictated by blood.

Lockjaw’s fate is swift and brutal. The elite Christmas Adventurers Club, the shadowy cabal behind the military’s oppression, deem him expendable once his usefulness ends. Inspired, Willa decides to carry on the work of the French 75, the underground network that has kept the resistance alive despite countless arrests and deaths.

Bob stays behind, weary but supportive, embodying the idea that the fight does not belong to any single hero. The ending leaves the audience with the sense that while one tyrant can be toppled, the endless battle against systemic oppression continues. The final shot—Willa walking forward with resolve—serves as both a tribute to the fallen fighters and a call to action, reminding us that love, community, and perseverance are the only forces capable of confronting an unending war.
