Okko's Inn

Okko Seki and her parents embark on a journey to attend the ritual dance at Hananoyu for the annual Shinto spring festival. This festival celebrates the rejuvenating powers of the hot springs, symbolizing renewal and hope.

Tragedy strikes when Okko's family gets into a car accident on their way to the festival, resulting in the heartbreaking loss of her parents. This event marks a profound turning point in Okko's life, forcing her to adapt to a new reality.

After the tragedy, Okko relocates to live with her grandmother, Mineko, at Harunoya Inn. This new environment provides her a chance to heal, but it also introduces her to the responsibilities of innkeeping.

At the inn, Okko discovers friendship with Uribo, the ghost of her grandmother's childhood friend. Uribo encourages her to embrace her new responsibilities as the junior innkeeper, providing the support she desperately needs.

As Okko takes on the role of junior innkeeper, she faces many struggles managing tasks and wearing the formal kimono. However, with Uribo's encouragement, she begins to improve her skills, showcasing her dedication.

At school, Okko meets Matsuki Akino, also known as Frilly Pink, a girl who flaunts her upscale fashion and boasts about her family's competitive inn. Conflict arises as Matsuki's personality clashes with Okko's timid nature.

Uribo's playful antics lead to trouble with Matsuki when he mischievously paints her face. In retaliation, Matsuki's deceased sister, Miyo, appears, mocking Okko, but Okko's unique ability to see Miyo brings an unexpected bond.

Okko invites a troubled man and his son, Akane, to stay at Harunoya Inn, believing that everyone deserves kindness. This act of compassion reveals the emotional hardships they face, prompting Okko to create a dish that comforts them.

When Akane requests cake, Okko channels her creativity to make a pudding inspired by the healing hot springs. The dessert impresses Akane and his father, leading to a positive magazine review that brings more guests to the inn.

During a shopping spree with the fortune teller, Glory Suiryo, Okko grapples with the memories of her parents, leading to a panic attack. Glory comforts her by sharing her own story of loss, creating a bond of understanding.

While unwrapping a bell from her grandfather, Okko accidentally frees Suzuki, a baby demon. Initially rubbing her the wrong way, Suzuki quickly becomes a part of the team, helping Okko with inn operations as she copes with her loss.

As both Okko and Matsuki are chosen to perform at the spring festival, they struggle to find common ground during rehearsals. Their contrasting styles lead to humorous moments but also tension, causing frustration for their instructor.

A family, including young Shota, arrives seeking the hot spring's healing properties. Okko realizes that Shota's father was in the same tragic accident that took her parents' lives, leading to a moment of deep emotional turmoil for her.

Overwhelmed by her emotions upon learning the truth, Okko initially runs away but later invites Shota's family to stay, offering them comfort. This act of kindness signifies her growth and compassion despite her own grief.

In a heartfelt culmination, Okko and Matsuki perform beautifully at the town's spring festival, showcasing their growth and shared experiences. As the ghosts, including Uribo and Miyo, bid farewell, they promise to reunite in the future.
