Freda Lopez Bridget Fonda is a singer and songwriter who dreams of a career as a performer, but she grapples with the courage to chase that dream. Her husband Vincent Lopez Elias Koteas insists that music is only a hobby, anchoring their relationship in a practical, if uneasy, balance. The couple heads to Savannah, Georgia for a vacation and there they meet Camilla Cara Jessica Tandy, who lives near their cottage. Freda and Camilla quickly form a warm bond as Freda learns that Camilla was once a musician herself, enjoying a renowned career in Canada as a concert violinist. Camilla shares vivid memories of her greatest triumph, performing Brahms' Violin Concerto at Toronto's Winter Garden Theatre. When Camilla learns that the Brahms concerto is to be staged again at the Winter Garden, the two women decide they don’t want to miss it and head north to Canada together.

Left behind are Vincent and Camilla’s son Harold Cara Maury Chaykin, a B-movie producer, as the sisters embark on their journey. When the women vanish, Vincent and Harold set out to find them, and through the search they come to realize they must reconcile their broken relationships with the women in their lives.

Q1

Why did Freda decide to leave with Camilla and travel to Canada?

Freda left with Camilla because she was deeply inspired by the older woman's story of performing Brahms' Violin Concerto at Toronto's Winter Garden Theatre. When Freda learned the concerto was being staged again, she saw it as a chance to reclaim her own abandoned musical dreams. Camilla, having lived through her own artistic peak, encouraged Freda to take this opportunity, and the two women bonded over their shared passion for music, leading them to embark on the journey together.
