Chang-pau bets Lui HK$40,000 against Joe in a high-stakes race along Princess Margaret Road. Lui borrows HK$20,000 from Bad Breath to enter the duel. He leads at first, but Joe catches up and chaos erupts, ending with a ram and a police bust that arrests Joe, Lui, and Ann.

At the police station, Lui's estranged father, a veteran officer, scolds him for his illegal life and pulling his sister into danger. Lui lashes out, blaming his father’s hypocrisy for shaping his criminal path and questioning his role as a cop.

After his release, Bad Breath's henchmen attack Lui's shop and threaten Ann. Joe intervenes to save Ann, while Lui retaliates by blowing up Bad Breath's car and fighting the attackers, until the police arrive to restore order.

Brother Bing orders Lui to settle with Bad Breath and to hand Joe over in exchange for the debt and the blown car. Lui balks at giving up Joe, since Joe saved Ann, but ultimately agrees to the plan.

Bull and his men capture Joe and turn him over to Bad Breath to be beaten. Ann and Katy arrive and manage to bring Joe back home, and Joe and Ann begin a secret romance after he is saved.

Lui storms into Joe's apartment with Bull and Fat Dog, slapping Katy who tries to stand in the way. Joe's colleagues and the police intervene, and Ann scolds Lui for his violent behavior as the confrontation ends.

Chang-pau and Lui meet in a restaurant to settle scores, but the clash escalates until Joe arrives and proposes another race for HK$500,000. Lui agrees and warns Joe not to touch his sister; Lui's father also arrives and scolds his son.

While Lui is involved in a drug deal for Brother Bing, his father spots him, triggering a car chase that ends with his death. In his dying words, the father asks Lui when he will grow up and take responsibility for his actions.

Lui reunites with his sister and girlfriend at his father's funeral. He announces a desire to quit the triads, but Brother Bing tries to dissuade him from leaving the life. Joe tells Ann he plans to stop racing after the final race.

Ann reveals that Katy is leaving for Canada; Lui goes after her and is challenged by two youngsters who race him and crash. After bringing Katy to Brother Bing to pursue leaving the triads, Lui resolves to end the feud with a final race against Joe.

Lui and Katy reconcile, and Lui informs Bull and Fat Dog that they’ll split the prize money if he wins the race against Joe. The teams prepare for a final showdown to end the feud once and for all.

The final race begins with both crews in pursuit. Near the end, Bull rams Joe's car, causing Joe to crash into Lui's car and plunge toward the sea. The collision marks a tragic turning point in the duel.

Joe survives the crash momentarily and tells Ann what happened, fearing he killed Lui. Ann pleads him not to turn himself in, and he considers his next move while Katy arrives later.

Bull finally confronts Joe with a gun; Joe fights back, but Lui arrives too late to prevent the shooting. Joe dies in Ann's arms while Bull's greed is exposed. Lui saves Bull during a police shootout and drives away, the car flipping as officers fire.
