'Tallahatchie Bridge' summons lost innocence, a murky river and a mysterious suicide. Defying her domineering family, Bobbie Lee Hartley and Billy Joe McAllister meet at the Choctaw Ridge hideaway to consummate their forbidden love. Ode probes the clash between modern morals and a tradition‑bound faith, questioning whether one can sin against a religion that won’t even accept them.
