K, John Abraham, a wealthy but supremely confident businessman in his 30s, lives in a world where smoking dominates every moment. He lights up at work, at home, and even in the bath, and his wife, Anjali, Ayesha Takia — her name echoed in the marriage by the strain his habit creates — grows increasingly exhausted and distant as his addiction wrecks their closings, their intimacy, and their trust. His circle of friends and mentors pousser him toward change: Abbas Tyrewala, [Ranvir Shorey], a longtime friend, and a doctor, [Kiku Sharda], urge him to consider a drastic break from cigarettes by entering Prayogshaala, a rehabilitation center that markets itself as the definitive cure for addiction.

Behind a nondescript storefront called Kalkatta Karpets, Prayogshaala presents itself as a labyrinthine experiment in fear and control. The center’s enigmatic leader, Baba Bangali, played by [Paresh Rawal], runs the operation with a cold method: every time a patient yields to their vice, something shocking and humiliating is arranged to shock them back into compliance. The contract is steep — ₹21,11,110 — and K balks at the price, but Baba and his followers pressure him into signing. Once inside, he witnesses fellow quitters endure brutal, often painful punishments, a grim reminder that the road to freedom from addiction in this place is paved with fear rather than care.

As the sessions unfold, K encounters a cast of characters who are pulled into the center’s harsh logic. The police pressure K to smoke under questioning, and the rumor mill swirls with more tragedy — his brother’s suicide is alleged to have a smoking-related origin. The mounting fear and confusion land K in jail, where the authorities seem unconvinced by his pleas. He is eventually released, but the weight of the center’s power follows him, as does the revelation that Baba permits sins to be committed during a sinister phase called the “Zero Minute.” At a pivotal event, K tries to reach Baba, but the path to him is blocked in a surreal moment of ritualized temptation.

Then, a mind-bending turn of events collapses reality into a hallucinatory odyssey. K lights a cigarette and suddenly finds himself waking up not in a rehab ward but on a Russian army base, receiving a call from his wife who questions why she would be thought dead. He escapes by jumping into water, only to awaken in a ragged room and later see himself in a hospital bed, confronted by visions of his wife and Baba. A haunting truth emerges: his body no longer responds to his inner soul, and the final punishment appears complete. After this harrowing journey, K returns to his home, only to discover that he is missing two fingers. The experience leaves him altered, but it also reframes his perspective on addiction and control.
