Namma Veettu Pillai

Arumpon, a village youth from Tirupathur, arranges a puberty showering function for his sister Thulasi. Despite hesitance from maternal uncles who regard Thulasi with suspicion, his grandfather Arunmozhivarman and cousin Paramu stand by them. The moment sets up the social pressures and the care that sustains the family.

Arumpon actively seeks an alliance for Thulasi, but their maternal uncle disapproves. He finds a prospective groom, but Arumpon’s paternal uncles foil the match and Thulasi’s engagement is called off.

Arumpon and Paramu have a feud with Ayyanar, who closed his liquor shop and blocked the sale of land via a court order. Ayyanar vows to marry Thulasi as retribution, escalating the conflict.

Under pressure from his mother and Thulasi, Arumpon reluctantly agrees to marry Ayyanar. He hopes this arrangement will end the feud and protect his family from further violence.

It is revealed that Thulasi is Arumpon’s adopted sister, the daughter of Dharma who was taken in by Chandrabose after Dharma’s death. Chandrabose later dies trying to save Esakki, Thulasi’s biological brother, from electrocution caused by enemies.

Ayyanar mocks Arumpon at every turn, but Arumpon bears it with good humor since he is now his brother-in-law. The growing tension casts a dark shadow over the impending marriage.

Thulasi is falsely arrested for Ayyanar’s illegal liquor hoarding. When confronted, Ayyanar hits her, and Arumpon thrashes Ayyanar in retaliation.

Paari arrives with men to support Ayyanar and seek revenge for the assault. In a drunken stupor, Ayyanar kills Paari accidentally, turning the feud into a tragedy.

Paari’s men pursue Ayyanar, but he escapes; Arumpon and Thulasi ultimately rescue him and hand him over to the police. The family tries to halt the cycle of bloodshed through lawful action.

To end the violence, Arumpon, his mother, and Thulasi surrender to the Paari village panchayat. He offers to marry Paari’s widowed wife to spare Thulasi from becoming a widow, choosing mercy over vengeance.

In the closing credits, the extended family is shown reconciling with Arumpon’s group. Ayyanar is released on parole to attend Thulasi’s seemantham, and peace is asserted between Arumpon and the rest of the family.

The film ends with Arumpon breaking the fourth wall, mimicking his grandfather, providing a humorous send-off after the storm of events.
