My Sassy Girl

Gyun-woo struggles to forget The Girl of My Sassy Girl after she leaves him to seek refuge as a Buddhist. He is haunted by memories of their past and the life they could have had together. This emotional weight drives many of his later decisions.

Gyun-woo reunites with his childhood sweetheart Sassy, a China-born classmate who was teased for her broken Korean. They decide to marry despite Gyun-woo's mother's initial opposition. Their reunion marks a fresh start after years of heartbreak.

His wife secretly sends his job application to a telecommunications company in China without telling him. The move sets Gyun-woo on an unexpected path abroad, far from his hometown. He remains unaware of how this decision will reshape his life.

Gyun-woo and his fellow Korean Yong-sub are recruited by the Chinese company and assigned to Team Oxford. Team Oxford is presented as a selective group chosen by the company’s leadership, tied to the bulldog Oxford as a symbol. The assignment marks the beginning of their corporate journey in China.

Team Oxford is disbanded, Gyun-woo's Korean colleague is fired, and Gyun-woo is relegated to degrading tasks by Executive Director Kim. He endures humiliation while trying to keep his wife happy. The sudden shift strains his morale and position within the company.

Gyun-woo's wife learns of his precarious employment and confronts Kim at his home during a party. She publicly challenges the executive and, in a moment of anger, kicks him into the swimming pool. The confrontation deepens the rift in their marriage.

Following the incident, Gyun-woo resigns from the company and the relationship with his wife deteriorates. The couple drifts apart, leaving their future uncertain and their bond strained by the ordeal.

A female colleague named Yuko reveals to Gyun-woo how his wife defended him in front of the Executive Director. The confession offers him a new perspective on her loyalty and sacrifice. It plants a seed of possibility for reconciliation.

Gyun-woo returns home to gather his belongings, only to find his wife is not there. He recalls their happier times and resolves to find her, choosing to pursue their relationship rather than give up. This marks a turning point in his personal journey.

Gyun-woo undertakes a tough journey through China's mountain trails, enduring fatigue and uncertainty. His determination to reunite with his wife drives him through harsh terrain and alien surroundings. The trek tests his resolve like never before.

His journey culminates on the plains where he finds her with her grandfather and other villagers. They reconcile, and a renewed sense of family begins to take shape. They slowly move toward rebuilding their life together.

Gyun-woo and Sassy start a family, symbolizing a new chapter of stability and happiness. The film closes with a phone call from The Girl, indicating she is returning to a normal life and seeking Gyun-woo, hinting at possible reconciliation or closure for the past.
