After the robbery, the masked thief reaches Little Bend and the passengers report the crime and Flower Belle’s disappearance. Flower Belle is taken into town, and authorities scramble to track down the bandit. The incident stirs gossip and fear throughout Little Bend.

That evening Flower Belle returns to town unharmed and explains that she managed to slip free from danger. Her casual attitude unsettles the locals and puts pressure on the town’s authority. The episode marks the start of her notoriety in Little Bend.

That night, the masked bandit returns to Flower Belle’s room at Aunt Lou’s house and they share a kiss. Mrs. Gideon witnesses the moment and rushes to tell the judge what she saw. Flower Belle is suddenly hauled before the court, facing public shame and possible punishment.

The judge questions Flower Belle’s conduct and she responds with defiance, claiming she’s doing her best under trying circumstances. The confrontation ends with her being run out of Little Bend. The town’s judgment drives her to seek a fresh start elsewhere.

Flower Belle boards a train to Greasewood City, where an unscheduled stop introduces con-man Cuthbert J. Twillie. The two quickly sense a potential partnership built on appearances and money. Their journey together begins a changing dynamic between them.

During the stop, hostile Indians attack the train. Flower Belle steps to a window and fires two pistols, scattering them, while Twillie dodges arrows and fights with a childish slingshot. The danger forces them to rely on each other and deepens their uneasy bond.

Seeing money in Twillie’s bag, Flower Belle pretends to marry him, and a makeshift ceremony is held in Greasewood City with Amos Budge officiating. The pretend union gives Flower Belle social cover and Twillie protection from scrutiny. The arrangement marks the start of their fraught partnership.

Back in Greasewood City Flower Belle maintains a separate hotel room to preserve her independence while Twillie is installed as sheriff by Jeff Badger, the town boss who plans to exploit the situation. Badger hopes an incompetent lawman will not interfere with his crimes. Flower Belle carefully navigates the attention of the powerful men around her.

Flower Belle kisses Badger and realizes the local magnate is the masked bandit. She pieces together that his kiss bears a signature clue to the crimes. The revelation shifts the danger from a mysterious outlaw to a powerful, familiar target.

Twillie makes a second attempt to consummate the pretend marriage, but Flower Belle escapes and replaces their bed with a goat. Twillie, unaware of the switch, tries to bed the animal and is shocked when he discovers his mistake. The prank heightens the farce and reinforces Flower Belle’s control of the situation.

Twillie, still in disguise as the masked bandit, makes a final bid to claim his supposed criminal identity, but he is caught. He begs to see Paris before he dies, then Philadelphia, and the crowd prepares to hang him. Flower Belle intervenes at the last moment, saving him and ending the immediate danger.
