In Thanksgiving 1973, five-year-old Danny accompanies his doctor father to Grace Swan's home, where Grace unexpectedly goes into labor. Danny helps by unwrapping the umbilical cord, and the baby girl Anna is born. Overwhelmed by the event, Danny declares, 'I'm going to marry her!'

Twenty-five years later, Danny comes back to the United States from England, where he was raised. During a delivery to a bakery client, Danny finds himself near the Swan residence and unexpectedly encounters Nina and the adult Anna.
