Alok and Indu have been dating for three years. Indu is focused on climbing the corporate ladder in advertising, while Alok, despite a gold medal in his MBA, works as a substitute accounts teacher. Their stable relationship forms the emotional core that is later tested by conflict.

During a party where Indu isn’t present, Alok and Indu break up over the phone, ending their long relationship. The moment is abrupt and emotionally charged, leaving friends puzzled. The breakup also unsettles Alok's parents, who had hoped for an engagement next year.
