Mixing Nia

Nia is introduced as an upwardly mobile woman working for an advertising firm in New York City. Nia goes out with Matt, her former co-worker, and discovers he has had feelings for her for a long time. Her interactions with Matt allow her to explore her identity from a different, more familiar angle.

The movie culminates with Nia reading a poem in front of an audience that previously made her feel 'too white.' Her performance signifies her embracing her complex identity, with Joe applauding her efforts.
