Max Manus

Max Manus valiantly fights against communist forces in Finland. His experiences shape his strong sense of patriotism that drives him upon his return to Norway under Nazioccupation.

Back in Norway, Max is inspired by his patriotic spirit to join the Norwegian resistance movement. He bravely stands up against the oppressive German forces occupying his homeland.

His involvement in resistance activities leads to Max's arrest by the Nazis. However, his quick thinking enables him to execute a daring escape shortly thereafter.

After escaping, Max travels to Scotland, where he undergoes rigorous military training. This training prepares him for his return to Norway to carry out dangerous sabotage missions.

Max returns to Norway alongside his comrade, Gregers Gram. They quickly dive into their first operation, targeting German supply ships, which culminates in a spectacular victory.

The success of their operation attracts the attention of the ruthless Gestapo commander, Siegfried Wolfgang Fehmer. This places Max and his group in significant danger as they become marked targets.

In response to the escalating threat, Max and his allies, including Gunnar Sønsteby, organize themselves into the notorious Oslo-group. Their mission becomes increasingly vital as the war wears on.

As the war intensifies, Stockholm provides a crucial sanctuary for Norwegians involved in allied military efforts. Max finds refuge there, facilitating important connections and planning for future operations.

In Stockholm, Gregers introduces Max to Tikken, a dedicated operative for the British consulate. Their relationship quickly deepens, giving Max emotional strength amidst the war's chaos.

As the conflict continues, Max suffers the loss of many close friends, which weighs heavily on his conscience. This toll of survival adds a layer of trauma and reflection to his character.

In a haunting confrontation with Gestapo commander Fehmer, Max realizes the brutal reality of war. It spares no one, making every participant a victim of its senseless destruction.
