Rolf Pedersen is a Norwegian physics professor who initially chooses to wait out the war rather than actively fight. He is content to live quietly under occupation, focusing on his academic work. However, Knut Straud, the resistance leader, persuades him that his scientific knowledge is crucial for understanding the heavy water plant's infrastructure and for planning an effective sabotage mission.
