What Happens in Maradona: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Maradona (2018) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

Maradona, a gritty goon-for-hire, Tovino Thomas moves to Bangalore after a reckless clash injures the son Aravindan Shalu Rahim. The politician hires a ruthless enforcer, Chemban Vinod Jose, to track him down along with his friend Sudhi Tito Wilson, who joined the melee and now grapples with memory loss from the incident.

In the apartment complex, Maradona builds a wary circle of acquaintances. He befriends Ousepachan, an elderly neighbor living opposite, and grows drawn to Asha, a compassionate nurse next door Saranya R Nair. As he navigates this fragile new life, his loyalties are tested, and his budding feelings pull him in competing directions.

As the hometown events unfold, the interval reveals a tense turn: Maradona and Sudhi are forced to confront Aravindan, the rogue son Shalu Rahim. Martin and his gang eventually corner Sudhi, beat him, and lock him away in a hidden hideout. A news segment later shows Sudhi being brutalized, prompting him to confess his long-hidden past as a goon to Asha, who then leaves him. Ousepachan steps in to calm Maradona, telling him that Asha may return once she understands his true feelings.

When Martin and his crew reappear at the apartment to seize Maradona, they discover a burglary had taken place and that Maradona has vanished since the previous day. In a moment of resolve, Maradona heads to Aravindan's house to apologize to his mother, choosing to face the consequences of his past actions. He surrenders and ends up jailed with Sudhi, who, tragically, dies from his injuries. Before his death, Sudhi pleads with Maradona not to abandon Asha.

In a bold escape, Maradona overpowers the pursuing gang and breaks free. The final arc follows him on a journey toward West Bengal, accompanied by Aravindan, who does not remember their shared past. Maradona reassures Aravindan's mother that he will return with Aravindan once their loved ones are safe. In a closing twist, Ousepachan returns the missing valuables to the apartment, revealing that Maradona had staged the robbery to shield his family.
