Manjummel Boys

In 2006, ten friends from an arts club in Kochi set off for a trip to Kodaikanal during Onam vacation, hoping for a break from city life. They plan to explore the hill station and enjoy the scenery together.

The group reaches the Guna Caves and, despite warnings from a tourist guide, ventures into restricted areas. They even etch their group name 'Manjummel Boys' on a wall before continuing their exploration.

While regrouping for a group photo, Subhash slips from a ledge and disappears into the hole. The friends initially suspect a prank, but his calls for help fade away and he remains unresponsive.

Friends inform locals who warn that the area is off-limits and that thirteen people have fallen into the hole with no recoveries. The gravity of the situation becomes clear as the group tries to mobilize help.

As rain begins to flood the hole, the rescue effort intensifies and the police file an FIR against the friends for entering a restricted area and for alleged murder. The situation grows more complicated as authorities are drawn into the search.

Reluctant at first, the police yield to pressure from locals and fear of backlash, agreeing to help and sending an officer to accompany the group to the cave for a rescue attempt.

On the way to the cave, the officer reveals that the last person who fell in was the nephew of a former Central Minister and that authorities previously tried to rescue him without success.

Seeing the danger and the hesitancy, Sixon volunteers to descend into the pit, convincing the police to proceed with the rescue despite the risks involved.

Kuttan is lowered into the hole and insists on going deeper to locate Subhash, despite initial safety concerns and the rope running out. He signals that Subhash can still be saved.

At around 120 feet down, Kuttan discovers Subhash lying on a ledge covered in blood and muddy water. He retrieves Subhash and signals his team to pull them up together.

Subhash is given first aid at a nearby clinic and then rushed to their hometown hospital for further treatment and recovery after the rescue.

The police decide to let the group go with a warning and choose not to reveal the true circumstances to Subhash's family, instead telling them he fell in a waterfall. The incident is kept relatively quiet at this stage.

Subhash slowly recovers from the trauma with therapy, while later news reveals that Kuttan played a crucial role in the rescue. The information travels from Tamil Nadu and brings Kuttan public applause for his bravery.

Two years later, Kuttan is honored with the Jeevan Raksha Padak for his heroic rescue, recognizing his bravery and quick action in saving Subhash.
