Wally's radio is washed up on the island, prompting Will to row back toward the boat to find out what happened. As he nears the shore, the shark surfaces and knocks him into the water, beginning another desperate struggle for survival. The onshore fear turns to immediate danger at sea.

With the shark trapped in a shallow bay and the tide low, Jessie dives from the reef toward the decrepit boat to lure the predator. The shark chases her, but she ducks under the boat as it lunges, allowing Harlan to fire repeatedly and sink the creature. Jessie resurfaces alive and well.

In the closing moments, the film shows Will's body on the beach, indicating his death despite the dramatic rescue attempt. The community must reckon with the consequences of the carnage that has unfolded.

Harlan is visited by his friend Sam and Peter, who share stories of shark attacks and urge him to return to the area to confront the predator. Despite reluctance, Harlan agrees to go back and kill the shark, closing the chapter on this harrowing ordeal with a vow for vengeance or closure.
