Darkness looms as police investigate a crime scene in a house located in the San Fernando Valley. They sift through the chilling footage from their crime scene video, uncovering body after body, leaving one question echoed in the air: What on earth happened here?

Fast forward one week earlier—inside the same house, an attractive young woman, Casey (played by Catherine Annette), sits on the couch being filmed by Devin (portrayed by Clint Brink) for an adult video. Unfortunately, Casey misjudges the intense cravings for violent sexual content exhibited by Devin and his partner, Josh (played by Lee Kholafai). Their session is interrupted by another adult film star, the clever Ashley Saint (portrayed by Betsy Rue), who attempts to rescue Casey from the escalating tension. However, in a shocking and terrifying moment, Josh jumps in, resulting in an assault that, while threatening, is ultimately part of a staged scene. This moment takes a bizarre turn when an unexpected blooper elicits laughter from the performers.

As days pass, Ashley visits the company’s office where she encounters the proprietor, Mike. He encourages her to participate in a new website promotion, Lucky Bastard, which offers a fortunate fan a chance to sleep with a porn star. Reluctantly, Ashley declines, believing the premise is both unsafe and unprofessional, especially as a single mother. Mike then shows her an innocuous application video from the fan Dave G. (played by Jay Paulson), and he ultimately bribes her into accepting the role.

The crew gears up to film the segment, with Mike driving his S.U.V. alongside Casey, Ashley, and Kris (portrayed by Chris Wylde), the designated cameraman. Casey asks to use a camera to capture her own footage, merging her perspective with Kris’s as they film their quirky journey to meet the contest winner.

They pick up Dave G. at the Amtrak station, where the dynamics take an immediate downturn as Mike criticizes Dave’s Dodgers T-shirt, fearing legal repercussions. Mike’s condescending attitude towards their audience becomes evident, sparking skepticism from Kris. Once in the car, the situation does not improve—Dave, trying his best to fit in, is met with awkward interviews that leave him seeming clumsy and out of place.

A stop at a restaurant turns problematic when the maitre d’ interrupts, insisting that filming an adult production is off-limits. As Mike argues with him, Dave mistakenly makes a personal move toward Ashley that horrifies her. After a sincere yet bumbling apology from Dave, Ashley decides to give him another chance.

The crew relocates to the same infamous house—a set integrated with cameras for a reality show—and the tension rises during Ashley and Dave’s filmed sex scene. However, the experience quickly derails when Dave prematurely climaxes, leading to a chaotic scene where panic ensues. Ashley’s outrage at Dave’s behavior culminates in her locking herself away, frustrated and overwhelmed. Mike begs her to let him in, and they share an emotional exchange where he promises to send Dave away, much to Ashley’s relief.

But Dave cannot accept defeat; fueled by anger and a sense of injustice, he is determined to have his moment. He lashes out, feeling humiliated over his performance, and in a moment of vulnerability, the tension leads to violence. As they drive away, an error in judgment causes Nico (played by Lanny Joon), Mike’s assistant, to leave the cameras rolling, setting off a chain reaction that ultimately unleashes Dave’s violent tendencies.

Back at the house, Mike invites Josh back to film a scene with Ashley, hoping to salvage the shoot. In an unexpected turn, the disturbed Dave invades the house, exacting revenge on Mike and the crew for the humiliation he suffered.

In the gripping climax, it’s down to Ashley and Dave. However, Ashley possesses the intelligence and resolve to outsmart the enraged Dave. She lures him in, charming him into freeing her, before turning the situation around in a shocking twist of fate during their intimate encounter. In a blend of seduction and desperation, she manages to escape and take control.

After a moment of visceral agony followed by triumph, Ashley stands amidst the chaos, addressing the camera—now a testament to the harrowing journey she’s endured. With a complex mixture of emotions flickering across her face, she decisively turns the camera off, closing the chapter on what has irrevocably changed her life.
