Preeti Riya Sisodiya and Sonia Mrunal Thakur are the daughters of a poor debt-ridden farmer, Shiva Adil Hussain, who lives about 1400 kilometers from Mumbai. The sisters share a deep, unbreakable bond and will go to any length to protect each other. A village boy named Amar deeply loves Sonia and helps the sisters set up their own email accounts to stay in touch across the distance, keeping hope alive in a world that feels distant and unforgiving.
Shiva, stuck in debt to the local landlord Dada Thakur, faces a brutal choice. He agrees to sell Preeti to a prostitute, Anjali Aarti Mann, to pay off his debt, a decision that tests the sisters’ loyalty and the weight of family. Sonia desperately tries to intervene, but her efforts come too late. That night, she pleads with Dada Thakur to allow her to go to Mumbai to reunite with Preeti, a plea born from love and desperation.
Anjali whiskes Sonia away to Mumbai under the pretext of reuniting her with Preeti. Sonia is sold into a brothel run by the harsh madame Madhuri Richa Chadha and controlled by the ruthless Faizal Manoj Bajpayee. The oppressive atmosphere, the coercive routines, and the constant fear take a brutal toll on her sense of safety. A fellow prostitute named Rashmi Freida Pinto befriends her, offering a glimmer of solace in a place that strips away dignity.
After several desperate pleas, Faizal allows Sonia to meet Preeti again. What Sonia finds is a grim reality: Preeti has become a drug-addicted, high-profile prostitute. She lashes out at Sonia for not saving her sooner and reveals her own bitterness and jealousy, a painful reminder of the paths they have been forced to walk. Meanwhile, Shiva begs Dada Thakur to bring Sonia back, and Anjali provides the address to Kamathipura, guiding Shiva toward Mumbai as he continues his frantic search for his daughter.
A social worker named Manish approaches Sonia and gathers details about Preeti. He leads a raid on Faizal’s brothel to rescue Sonia and another young girl, Asha. But Sonia is not ready to leave the life she has been drawn into, and the escape remains tentative. The rift widens when Rashmi accuses Sonia of stealing Preeti’s anklet, severing their fragile friendship at a crucial moment.
Faizal ships Madhuri, Sonia, and several other girls to Hong Kong in a cargo container. Madhuri, who has been hostile, begins to show protective concern for Sonia, offering a troubling form of care. In Hong Kong, Sonia endures a brutal sexual assault by a Chinese client and is subjected to a hymen reconstruction procedure to appear a virgin, a stark symbol of the control exerted over her body.
The journey continues to Los Angeles, where a relatively sympathetic client allows Sonia to reconnect with Amar via email and even gifts her a mobile phone. A chilling moment occurs at a party when Madhuri commits suicide by slitting her wrists, a stark reminder of the brutal world these women inhabit and the complex loyalties that bind them.
Sonia eventually flees deeper into the forests, where she is rescued by Salma, a social worker who runs an NGO named CAST. In the shelter, she finds a fragile sense of safety among other rescued girls and women. A video call reconnects Sonia with Preeti, and Preeti tearfully asks for forgiveness and begs her sister to return.
Six months later, Sonia returns to the shelter, only to learn that Preeti has returned to prostitution due to her drug addiction. Despite the setback, Sonia begins rebuilding her life with renewed hope in the sanctuary. Her parents visit, but she chooses not to go with them. She also reconciles with Amar, and in a final, poignant moment, she sends an email to Preeti affirming that she will find her someday and declaring that her sister is the most beautiful girl in the world.
