Lost Continent

A transport aircraft carrying Maj. Joe Nolan, Lt. Danny Wilson, Sgt. William Tatlow, and the rocket's three scientists crash-lands on a remote tropical island. The four expedition members survive along with two natives who stay on the island, while the rest of the native population has abandoned it after the rocket's fiery arrival. The incident coincides with the rocket vanishing on radar, setting the stage for the crew's struggle to survive and unravel the mystery.

A native woman explains that something fell from the sky onto a cloud-covered plateau that dominates part of the island, hinting at the rocket's landing area. Her account suggests the plateau is central to why the rocket disappeared and why the crew must survive the island's dangers.

Stanley Briggs dies accidentally during the steep ascent up the escarpment. The team presses onward through rugged terrain, inching toward the plateau while the island's perils loom ahead.

After long stretches of rock climbing, they emerge from a toxic gas cloud into a lush, prehistoric jungle. They discover dinosaurs roaming the land and a large uranium field that disabled their electronic tracking equipment, explaining the strange behavior of their instruments and the danger surrounding the rocket.

The crew comes upon a Brontosaurus that attacks Phillips as he retreats up a tree. Nolan and Wilson fire, but the dinosaur's thick hide absorbs bullets, marking it as a deadly and stubborn foe.

That night they set up camp. Nolan wakes to find Phillips and Rostov missing, and Phillips is stuck in a large rock crevice near a Triceratops. Nolan accuses Rostov of arranging the accident, but Rostov insists he was trying to help Phillips.

A Triceratops nearly attacks the group, but another Triceratops challenges and the two fight to the death. The clash leaves the survivors wary of the island's lethal fauna and the danger surrounding Phillips and Rostov.

Rostov reveals he is a Holocaust survivor, explaining the personal losses—his wife and unborn child—that motivated his work on the rocket. The revelation adds moral complexity to his presence on the mission.

Wilson shoots a Pterosaur for food near the rocket's landing site. Rostov and Phillips then retrieve the necessary data from the rocket, securing crucial information for their mission.

With his back turned, Tatlow is gored to death by an angry Triceratops as Nolan and Wilson shoot the beast. The team then digs a grave for him and mourns the loss.

Violent earthquake tremors begin, forcing the survivors to retreat down the steep plateau. They scramble to safety as the ground shakes and the island's stability deteriorates.

The four remaining survivors make it to the island's flatland and escape by outrigger canoe, heading for safety away from the unstable interior.

From a safe distance, they witness the island being rocked by further earthquakes and then erupt in a catastrophic volcanic explosion that destroys everything on the island.
