Elizabeth is kidnapped by Mendoza to use as ransom. Long John Silver and his crew are broke and wandering Portobello, while Jim Hawkins is pressed into service as a cabin boy. Dod Perch escapes and tracks Silver, but is killed by Mendoza's men, and his dying words name Mendoza, Governor Strong, and Hawkins.
