Long John Silver

Elizabeth is kidnapped by Mendoza to use as ransom. Long John Silver and his crew are broke and wandering Portobello, while Jim Hawkins is pressed into service as a cabin boy. Dod Perch escapes and tracks Silver, but is killed by Mendoza's men, and his dying words name Mendoza, Governor Strong, and Hawkins.

Long John Silver visits Governor Strong and proposes to deliver the ransom for Elizabeth. He aims to secure leverage and a future alliance. The encounter marks Silver's blend of piracy and politics as he tests Governor Strong's response.

During the ransom exchange, Silver and Billy Bowlegs go aboard Mendoza's ship to blackmail him. Silver proposes leaving Elizabeth on shore to lure away the governor's warships and to sack the king's warehouses. The plan shows Silver's willingness to manipulate both sides to maximize his gain.

Mendoza executes the plan, but Silver's men ambush and capture Mendoza along with the warehouse fortune. Jim and Elizabeth manage to escape amid the confusion. The capture shifts the balance of power in Portobello and gives Silver control of the loot.

Back at Governor Strong's house, Jim Hawkins is offered the chance to return to England. Long John Silver reveals plans to take Jim on the second voyage to Treasure Island. The two begin to form a tentative partnership driven by promise of greater treasure.

With the warehouse loot secured, Silver seizes Captain MacDougall's ship and sets course for Bristol, taking Hawkins aboard. He avoids becoming entangled with Purity Pinker during the voyage. The voyage marks a new phase in Silver's pursuit of fortune.

Jim Hawkins uncovers Long John's mutiny plans and warns Captain MacDougall. MacDougall decides to maroon Silver and his men on Mendoza's island hideout to prevent the mutiny from succeeding. The marooning isolates Silver and sets up further conflicts ahead.

Jim sets fire to Mendoza's warehouse, creating chaos that allows Silver and his crew to capture Mendoza's ship. The distraction helps them gain momentum toward Treasure Island. The act strengthens Jim's complicity with Long John.

Silver sails toward Treasure Island with his crew and makes shelter in a stockade to hide from Israel Hands, who survived Long John's earlier shot and is now blind. The stockade serves as a defensive position while they search for treasure. The island's dangers mount as the hunt continues.

Israel Hands, now blind, offers to ally with Long John in exchange for a passage to Cornwall and vengeance against Jim. Mendoza's men arrive and Hands helps burn the stockade, turning the defenses against Silver. The attack marks a major setback for Silver.

Silver follows the treasure map to the caves where the chest lies. Israel tries to kill Jim, but Jim leads him to the coast, where Israel plunges to his death. The dangerous search for the treasure continues with Jim surviving to press on.

Mendoza captures Jim as bait to lure Long John; Silver surrenders to Mendoza, giving his men the opportunity to attack. Silver's crew defeats Mendoza's forces and leaves the rest marooned. Silver returns to Portobello as a rich citizen and dines with the Governor, where it is implied he has earned a pardon for his past crimes; he and Jim ride off to avoid Purity Pinker's shotgun wedding.
