Kyo Kii… Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta

Raj Malhotra Govinda is a lawyer from Hoshiarpur who moves to Mumbai to live with his friend Mohan Satish Kaushik, another practicing attorney who introduces him to the bustling city and the kinds of cases that fill their days. As Raj grasps the racy rhythm of the metropolis, he watches Tejpal Singh Anupam Kher, a remarkably successful defence lawyer, handle a difficult case with deft precision, setting a benchmark for ambition and influence in their legal world. This encounter plants a plan in Raj’s mind: he decides to pursue wealth by courting Tejpal’s family, aiming to secure status and security through marriage.

Raj targets Tejpal’s daughter, Sonam Sushmita Sen, presenting himself as a principled, earnest lawyer who idolizes her father. He works to win Tejpal’s trust and to capture Sonam’s heart, and soon Tejpal agrees to the marriage. Yet the day after the wedding, Sonam shocks him by moving out of her father’s house and declining any of the family’s fortune, forcing Raj to retreat and rebuild his life with Mohan’s support. The personal setback hints at a moral fracture that will increasingly pull Raj away from the straightforward path he once followed.

A powerful underworld figure, Kalra Ashish Vidhyarthi, enters the scene and seeks a criminal lawyer to defend his brother in a murder trial. With many lawyers reluctant to face Kalra’s reach, Raj steps forward, accepting the challenge and winning the case, which launches him into Kalra’s orbit and into wealth and fame. The new lifestyle brings a grand house and a son into Raj and Sonam’s life, marking a stark transformation from the man who once dreamed of virtue and simplicity.

Years pass, and Kalra’s brother is accused again, this time in another murder. Sonam wants Raj to defend the victim’s widow, aligning with a sense of justice that mirrors her earlier ideals. Raj agrees, but Sonam overhears him promising Kalra that he will throw the trial if needed. Realizing his husband has become driven by money and power, Sonam leaves and requests a divorce, leaving Raj confronted with the consequences of his choices.

Their young son, sensing the strain, makes a wish that his father would stop lying. The wish works like a miracle: Raj suddenly cannot utter a single falsehood. He bluntly tells Sonam and Tejpal the truth about his marriage for money and even cross-examines his own prepared witnesses in Kalra’s brother’s murder trial. The miracle is reversed when the boy asks to undo it, but Raj experiences a profound shift; he vows to honor the truth from then on, choosing to fight the case against Kalra’s brother and seek justice for the murdered man’s widow.

Moved by his son’s courage, Raj returns to the courtroom with a renewed sense of duty. He prosecutes Kalra’s brother, secure in the integrity he now embraces, and his victory brings Kalra and his brother to justice. With the scales finally balanced, Sonam returns to Raj’s life, recognizing that he has kept his word and chosen honesty over easy riches. In the end, the film centers on a man who learns that truth can restore what wealth and deception had promised to destroy, and the family that believes in him again finds a path back to trust and reconciliation.
