Police officers Adhi Narayanan and Abbas devise a plan to take down the terrorist group. They deploy undercover officers Anand and Shiva to infiltrate the organization led by Badri. The mission is coded as Operation Dhanush.

After a year of operation, Anand is caught by the terrorists while infiltrating their ranks. He chooses to take his own life rather than reveal information under interrogation. The operation loses a crucial source of intelligence at a critical moment.

Based on Anand's data, Abbas and Adhi realize the terrorists plan to move someone important to Tiruchirappalli. Abbas tightens security at the railway station while Adhi calls his wife from a public telephone booth to stay discreet.

Adhi detects suspicious activity and a radio alert tips off the terrorists, triggering a shootout. He wounds a terrorist and prevents another from fleeing by shooting the car tyre; the wounded man enters the station and is shot by Abbas, while the car driver is detained.

Adhi interrogates the detained driver, who denies involvement but hints that Badri holds a mid-level position in the group. The driver’s cautious responses deepen Adhi’s suspicion.

The terrorists plan to assassinate a central government minister visiting the city; an RPG shooter is brought in and the minister is killed. The shooter identifies the driver as Badri, tying him directly to the plot.

Badri uses his influence to have the imprisoned shooter killed, silencing the potential informant who could expose him. This move eliminates a key witness and demonstrates Badri’s reach and ruthlessness.

Adhi brutalizes Badri briefly to force information and Badri reveals that a spy named Srinivasan is embedded in the police. Adhi informs the CBI that Srinivasan is the mole inside their ranks.

Before any arrest can be made, Srinivasan commits suicide, removing one of the security service’s embedded informants. The pursuit for the insider inside the police continues with renewed urgency.

Badri’s assistant Narasimhan escalates threats against Adhi’s family, including harming his dog and son to force his cooperation. Overwhelmed by guilt and fear, Adhi agrees to cooperate and effectively becomes a spy for the terrorists to spare his loved ones.

Abbas tracks Adhi’s suspicious behavior, is captured, tortured and killed by Badri. Grief-stricken, Zeenath and their teenage daughter move to live with Adhi, his wife Sumitra and their son.

Adhi attempts to end the arrangement and sets up a meeting with Badri. In the climactic moment, Adhi defeats Badri but Shiva shoots him to keep the spy network intact. Shiva proclaims Badri dead and takes over as second-in-command. Adhi and Abbas are honored posthumously.
