The cinematic experience kicks off with an unsettling moment: a young girl, Jamie Miller, is subject to a vicious attack that is never fully revealed. The following morning, reporters canvass the area, interviewing those claiming to have witnessed the horrific incident via their screens. One journalist notes the eerie fact that a family member has vanished.

As the story progresses, we meet Jamie’s family, including her father, Adam, and her mother, who is conspicuously absent. The Millers return from a ten-day getaway, blissfully unaware that hidden cameras have been documenting their every move. Later that evening, Jamie’s uncle, Matt, unexpectedly drops by, requesting to spend the night. While Adam is accommodating, Olivia, Adam’s new wife, is far from pleased by the visitor.

Throughout the night, Matt takes some time to chat with Jamie, telling her that Olivia means no harm to their family unit. Meanwhile, Jamie attempts to speak with her boyfriend, Josh, about a potential pregnancy but hesitates and ends the call abruptly. The night takes a dark turn as Matt heads outside to find his phone, only to be met with spine-chilling noises from the backyard that culminate in his brutal attack with a hook.

A menacing figure known as The Terror infiltrates the Miller home, confiscates all phones, and locks the windows, waking Olivia in the process. Adam goes to investigate the peculiar sounds only to be confronted by a flashlight and subsequently suffers a tragic fate — suffocated by a plastic bag in plain sight of his loved ones.

In the face of chaos, Jamie, her brother DJ, and Olivia retreat to the safety of Olivia’s bedroom, where they uncover a horrifying revelation: their lives have been under constant surveillance for countless months without their knowledge. As they desperately try to find a way out, they encounter another intruder, leading them to stumble upon a knife decorated with a bow in the basement.

Just when it seems help may have arrived with the sirens in the distance, those sounds are revealed to be a mere recording. When Josh arrives at the house, his fate also takes a grim turn as he meets a horrific end, suffocated by a running hose. As Olivia discovers a potential escape route marked by a red X at the gate, a sense of dread looms over the family.

While Matt’s lifeless body starkly contrasts the chilling atmosphere, Olivia finds herself fleeing from her aggressors. Amid this horror, DJ finds himself cornered, suffering the relentless blows from an unseen enemy. In a moment of courage, Jamie works to turn the tide, utilizing a taser she had found to subdue her attacker, followed by DJ employing a knitting needle to dispatch the intruder — the shocking identity of the assailant being Marissa Vasquez, a missing girl from a previous report.

Believing they might finally have a moment of peace, Jamie and DJ begin to assess the surroundings, only to confront the gruesome reality of Olivia’s remains, a positive pregnancy test for Jamie, and a horrifying collection of tapes featuring their mother and father with baby Jamie. Their attempts to communicate their dire situation to the outside world prove futile as their cries for help echo into silence.

The claustrophobic tension escalates when Jamie stumbles upon a sinister mask adorned with a bow, an object with troubling implications yet to be understood. In a desperate effort to flee their captors, Jamie and DJ devise a bold plan that results in flames engulfing their home as they make a hasty escape. However, their brief taste of freedom is soon extinguished as they are recaptured by The Creator and The Terror, who survive a previous encounter.

As Jamie and DJ confront the horrifying truth, including the fact that Marissa had been a captive forced into the bloodshed against Jamie’s family, The Creator presents Jamie with a chilling choice: comply, and her brother will live; resist, and face unimaginable torment. In a shocking moment, Jamie finds herself reeling from the sting of The Creator’s taser, trapped in a nightmare of terror and despair.
