Upendra finds Heaven's beauty and perfect silence almost too boring. After dying in a gang war, he stands at the gates of both Heaven and Hell and deliberately chooses Hell because the tranquil, flawless environment of Heaven feels dull to him. This unconventional decision is what leads him to meet Yama and ultimately encounter Indraja.

Yama, the god of death, is unable to determine whether Upendra belongs in Heaven or Hell because the man has committed neither genuine sins nor performed true good deeds. His actions as a wannabe don were ambiguous, he wanted to be a gangster but hadn't actually accomplished anything notable in either direction, leaving his spiritual fate in limbo.

Indra challenges Upendra to return to Earth for exactly 10 days with his daughter Indraja. The conditions are that Upendra must forget he ever died once on Earth, and if he commits any sin during those 10 days, he will forget Indraja entirely. This test determines whether their love can survive the realities of mortal existence.

During the 10-day stay on Earth, Upendra overhears Indraja speaking with her father Indra about the true nature of his situation. This conversation reveals to him that he had actually died and that his presence on Earth is part of a divine test. The shocking truth breaks through the memory-erasing condition, and his full memory returns.

Yama manipulates Upendra's appearance to make him look like the don who killed him in the gang war. This scheme is designed to provoke conflict and cause Upendra to commit a sin during the 10-day trial, which would make him forget Indraja and lose the challenge. Yama wants to ensure Upendra fails the test.

Despite Yama's deception and the 10-day trial's memory-loss condition, the couple's love proves stronger than the divine test. Upendra retains his memory of both his death and his love for Indraja, and their bond remains unbroken. Yama ultimately recognizes the power of their love and steps back, abandoning his interference.

Indra, as the king of the gods and protector of his daughter, is reluctant to accept a human who was previously a gangster. He sets up the 10-day challenge as a way to test whether Upendra's feelings are genuine and whether their love can withstand mortal limitations and temptations.

Mohan appears as Upendra's father in the afterlife and represents Upendra's own destiny or life path. Their meeting adds a personal emotional dimension to Upendra's spiritual journey, forcing him to confront questions about family, fate, and his choices in life.

After witnessing the genuine love between Upendra and Indraja survive his own manipulations and the divine test, Yama is moved by their devotion. He decides to withdraw from Earth and cease his interference, acknowledging that true love can transcend even rigid cosmic rules.
