In the town of Baymont, Hank lives at the Pink Motel where he spends his days caring for tortoises. His quirky hobby extends to offering unsolicited parking advice to local high school students, despite having no connection to the school.

A spirited teenager named Josie moves into the Pink Motel, recently informed by local landscaper Romero that Hank would assist her in settling down. Josie's rebellious demeanor is highlighted by her striking appearance, which draws attention from those around her.

During her stay, Josie concocts three elaborate stories concerning her reason for relocating. Each tale varies from her parents joining her later, claiming her father is in the military, to revealing that her single mother has passed away, creating intrigue around her character.

In Ms. Elkins’ class, Josie partners with Marcus, a student who is fascinated by her. Their collaboration leads to tension with Marcus' friend Gator, who wanted to join forces with him instead, setting the stage for brewing conflicts.
