Joseph: King of Dreams

Joseph is born the 'miracle child' and is given special treatment by his parents. His status arouses jealousy among his eleven brothers, setting the stage for future conflicts.

Joseph shares a dream in which a pack of wolves attacks the family’s flock. The dream is interpreted as a sign of power, but his brothers dismiss it as a coincidence.

Joseph relates another dream where his brothers and their parents bow to him. The family is unsettled as the implication is that Joseph will hold authority over them.

Led by jealousy, the brothers sell Joseph to a slave trader and return with his torn coat to their parents, claiming a wolf killed him. Jacob and Rachel are deceived and mourn the loss of Joseph.

In Egypt, Joseph is bought by Potiphar, a captain of the guard, and quickly proves to be capable and trusted. He also develops affection for Potiphar's niece Asenath.

Potiphar's wife Zuleika accuses Joseph of attempted rape after he resists her advances. Though Joseph is innocent, Potiphar has him imprisoned to save face.

While in prison, Joseph interprets the dreams of the Pharaoh's butler and baker. His interpretations prove accurate, foreshadowing the butler's restoration and the baker's execution.

The butler remembers Joseph's gift and informs Pharaoh of his ability to interpret dreams. Potiphar apologizes to Joseph for imprisoning him, and Joseph forgives him as he is brought to interpret Pharaoh's dreams.

Joseph interprets Pharaoh's dreams as seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine. He advises storing a fifth of each year's harvest and is appointed minister and second-in-command, under the name Zaphnath-Paaneah.

During the famine years, Joseph marries Asenath and has two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim, solidifying his integration into Egyptian life.

Joseph's planning and leadership save Egyptians and neighboring peoples from starvation. He oversees granaries and rationing to prevent famine.

Joseph's brothers come to buy grain, not recognizing him. He imprisons Simeon until they can prove their story by bringing Benjamin.

Joseph tests his brothers by placing his golden chalice in Benjamin's sack and threatening punishment. Judah confesses their past wrongs—selling Joseph—revealing their sincere desire to protect their father.

Overwhelmed, Joseph reveals his identity to his brothers and forgives them. The brothers and their families are reconciled, marking a turning point for their family's fate.

Joseph invites his family to settle in Egypt, reuniting with Jacob and his kin. The film ends with the Hebrews entering Egypt, unaware of the hardships ahead.
