In the 21st century, information has emerged as the most coveted commodity, with professional mnemonic couriers like Johnny carrying the most valuable data embedded in intracranial implants. However, this comes at a great personal cost, as Johnny has sacrificed his own memories to accommodate the data he smuggles. To reclaim his past, he accepts a dangerous courier job that involves delivering critical data—data that has already drawn the attention of lethal mercenaries.

The introduction reveals a world in turmoil, where the conflict between Loteks and powerful corporations rages on, exacerbated by a deadly disease known as Nerve Attenuation Syndrome (NAS), or the “Black Shakes,” which has left much of the global population in jeopardy. As the story unfolds, we find Johnny waking up on the morning of January 17, 2021, confronted with a reality where his life hangs by a thread.

In a Central Beijing hotel, Johnny enters amidst chaos and insecurity, facing uncertainty as he prepares to upload a substantial 320 GB of data—a task that exceeds his limits. In a tense encounter, he is beset by a group of Yakuza, led by Takahashi, who are intent on seizing the vital information. Johnny barely escapes the onslaught, but not without dire consequences. Despite the conflict, he struggles to retrieve the memory key that could save his life as his clients fall victim to the deadly clash.

Subsequently, Johnny finds himself on the radar of a sinister organization represented by Shinji, who receives a partial key to the information coveted by the Yakuza. With the pressure mounting, Johnny calls upon Ralfi, only to be caught in a trap, leading to a harrowing confrontation where he is saved by Jane. As their paths intertwine, they face relentless threats, including the menacing Street Preacher [Dolph Lundgren] and a relentless pursuit from the Yakuza.

As events escalate, Johnny learns that the data in his mind could be the cure for NAS, greatly impacting the fate of millions. He takes drastic measures, hacking into communication systems to negotiate with PharmaKom, the company behind the sinister machinations. At the climactic Landfill 5 bridge confrontation, the tension peaks, and the fight for survival reaches an explosive climax.
