Eloise and her fiancé Arthur plan to attend a rehearsal, but no one from their circle can babysit Eloise's rambunctious kid brother Donald. She phones the Cosman Employment Agency to hire help. At the agency, Mr. Dinkle and Jack hope to land a job, hoping to babysit Donald.

Polly, a Cosman employee, sends Dinkle and Jack to babysit Donald. Jack flirts with Polly, but her towering police-officer boyfriend arrives, complicating the setup. Polly confirms the assignment and the two men head out to take care of Donald.

Beastly bedtime plan backfires

Back at home, an attempt to lull Donald to sleep with the Jack and the Beanstalk tale goes awry when Jack stumbles over the big words. Donald ends up reading the story aloud instead, leaving Jack to drift into sleep. The door to a dream world opens as Jack slips into slumber.

Polly the housekeeper befriends the group and helps them escape over the castle wall. They flee with the royal prisoners, Nellie, and some stolen gems, which Dinklepuss had pilfered along the way. The escape plan moves from a fantasy to a frantic flight.

The group races down the beanstalk with the giant in hot pursuit. Nellie slips away, landing in the arms of Jack's mother, and the gems rain down upon the impoverished villagers below. The escape has unintended consequences for the townspeople.

All reach the ground safely, and Jack cuts down the beanstalk, causing the giant to plummet to his death. The villagers celebrate by dancing around the hole left by the fallen giant, free of his menace at last.

Awakening interrupted by vase-breaking

Just before receiving a royal reward, Jack is awakened when Donald bangs a vase over his head as Eloise and Arthur return from rehearsal. Jack's cry echoes through the room, and Dinkle delivers a second blow that pulls him back into the dream.
